Favorite Nap Spot: the closet I suspect to escape the other cats
Favorite Food: tuna
Skills: she can flip a mousie toy several feet in the air
Arrival Story: I wanted a kitten since my old boys were slowly going to rainbow ridge and a friend told me of someone whose cat had kittens. I went over to their house and was surrounded by all these cute cuddly kittens. There must have been at least 10 of them and climbed all over me. I had a great time playing with them and checking them out. Xena though seemed the most independent. She’d run away from me when I picked her up where the others climbed all over me. She was the cutest little kitten I’d ever seen and even then she looked…mental (I say that in a very loving way!!!)
I decided to take her and it was a great choice. I love my sweet beautiful mental cat!!
Bio: Xena as a kitten was very outgoing. She played with Bert, my old boy who was mostly blind and deaf. She’d tease him then sleep with him. She really liked him. She missed him when he passed away. She’d take furry mousie toys (her favorite) and toss them in air by hooking her paw under the toy and flipping it several feet into the air. One time when she was a few months old I brought home a mousie toy almost as big as her and tossed it to her. She beat the crap out of it for at least 45 minutes.
When she was small she’d sleep on my shoulder and purr. She is a true motorboat purr-er and her whole body vibrates when she purrs. As she grew she became more shy and would hide when people came over although she’d eventually come out and see what’s going on. She didn’t like anyone touching her but me, and if people were over she didn’t even like me touching her. One time my brother came for a visit and Xena would not come near him. He visited for a week, and the day he left she was lying on the back of the couch and he reached over and she let him pet her. She hissed at him, but she let him pet her. She’s not much of a fighter and will run but at least she didn’t run away from him.
She loves water but is very particular about it. She drinks water by dipping her paw in her bowl and licking it. She also loves the bathtub I’m guessing for the same reason, water. She is kind of skittish also, and I account that to my additional cats but she tolerates them and they for the most part tolerate her. She’s gotten more “mental†as she gets older. She’ll purr and seemed to enjoy a scratch, but then she’ll bite me out of the blue. She just is different. But I love that about her. She can be a challenge but she’s so much more joy!!
