Arrival Story:
Sammy was my first pedigreed kitty. He's a preservation kitty. He comes from the DiaBrillante Old Style Siamese (TICA Thai) cattery in New Mexico, and his breeder is one of a group in a club called PREOSSIA working to preserve rare old lines of Siamese of the original moderate type and keep them healthy. This is something that is important to me and I had long admired this group's emphasis on health and their international cooperation. I also was very intrigued by hearing of their efforts to track down and save descendants of the old Green Lane Siamese which were well known in the cat fancy in the 1950s-60s. Sammy's breeder kept him and took him to a show as a kitten and became very attached to this very active, smart, vocal boy and took her time to find a good home for him that shared her ideas about feline health and nutrition. I'm thankful that out of multiple inquiries she chose this new home for Sammy, and he came here on a plane when he was a little under a year old. I had been worried that Louis might not accept a new cat. He was so territorial and had fought so terribly with Frankie when they were first living here. plus Louis had health problems and I didn't want him to have a lot of stress. Finally I decided to take a chance with the option that if it did not work out, Sammy could go back. I did a very slow introduction, and it turned out Louis was happy to have a young cat friend! They became close buddies.

I am a blue point Old Style Siamese from American lines and before that, my ancestors were in England and before THAT, their ancestors were Siamese cats who came to England from Siam (now Thailand) over 100 years ago. My family looks like most Siamese cats used to look up until a few decades ago and how many of the top show cat Siamese looked up to the 1950s -- and how our relations still look back in the old country (where they're called "Wichien Maat" which means Diamond Gold-- pretty cool, we are double treasures ). We have a sort of body shape called "foreign type" which means we have a rather elongated body and legs, and are not at all cobby, heavy-boned cats but we're also not as super long and tubular and fine-boned like the show-style Siamese became via selective breeding. (Their body type is called "oriental type".) I am registered as a Siamese in CFF and as a "Thai" in TICA . The TICA Thai is Old Style Siamese from Western lines or Wichien Maat cats from breeders in Thailand. My mom is named Midori and she was born in Pennsylvania. My dad is named Sun-tse and he came from Montana. They told me that my great great great great grandfather was also called Sam ( Green Lane Sam). He was born in 1964. For most of my first year I was living with my parents and some of my siblings and some nice humans. Then I found out I was going to move to somewhere called Chicago. I heard I would have to stay in one little room for a while when i get there. I sure hoped it would have an internet connection. and I really really really hoped they have burritos at that Chicago place because I like to steal bites of them. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OK i have now been at my new house a while! I like it! there are cool toys. good food! And I LOVE my new human mom! And there is also another cat. He is really big! Yikes! when I first saw him I was worried but he is nice. he just does not play like my brother used to. my new human mom says its because he is not still almost a kitten like me and my brother. I decided he is my adopted Grandpa since I don't get to see my real cat grandpas. Later I went on a trip and met a cat called Taggy. Louis is friends with her. I don't think she liked me much at first but at least she is civil now. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A few weeks after I went to Chicago, I went to my first cat show as an adult. It was May 1st, 2010, the very first day that us Thais (Old Style Siamese)got to compete in Championship against all the other breeds. I got a new title on the front of my name: CHAMPION Alter. I'm not sure what "Alter" means but I liked that Champion part. Then I kept going to more shows and getting more new titles, Grand Champion to Double Grand to Triple Grand to Quadruple.... and in October 2010, I became the first TICA Thai to earn the "Supreme" level title in TICA. Less than 5% of the cats shown in TICA get that title. They announced it at the show and everyone applauded for ME. Later there was a cake with my picture on it. and I didn't get to eat any! Is that FAIR? Soon after I got my Supreme I decided I didn't want to show more, so I took a long break, but I still got a regional award for that season - so now my whole name is Supreme Grand Champion Alter Diabrillante Uncle Sam. ................... but my friends still just call me Sammy. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I did try going to a few more shows the next year and I had fun. I also went in 2011 and 2012 to Meet the Breeds in New York. It is a HUGE expo with like 40,000 people coming to see lots of breeds of dogs and cats. I enjoyed having so many people admire me and take my picture. and I liked it when I got to represent the Thai on the big stage in the Parade of Breeds. One of the judges carried me around and held me up in the air while another judge told the audience all about the breed and about ME and how I like to play fetch and sing opera.

I want to say THANKS to my friends and acquaintances and whoever has been giving me MORE TREATS! ( Beepers I know some of them are from you!)
That made me feel much more secure to know i had a fresh supply. I am making sure we get Treats Times every day!

It's funny how the picture on Catster looks like a fishy but then in real life it sometimes magically turns into some OTHER kind! I dont know how that works but I don't care because I like lots of kinds of treats. one of my favorites is freeze dried venison liver.

Mom throws the treat in the air and sometimes I catch it in my mouth. but other times I miss it and have to run for it before Phai-lin gets it first. but Mom makes sure we all get some.

a Happy Sam

Treats not stole after all so Chatri is off the hook

OK I just want to give the update that I got to eat more yummy treats , more than three. so the six hundred something-ty treats must not have been stole after all.

Good thing I found out or I would have suspected that devious lilac point guy Chatri. Those lilac points think their pale, ethereal innocent appearance will let them get away with anything!

Good news: More Diary Pwize !!! Bad news: Treats now- STOLED!

A Pwize, a Pwize! i got anotherDiary Pwize!

When I got the DOTD, my mom had said "Now Sammy you can't expect you will get such honors ALL the time."
But I did! I did! I did! I got a Featured Diary for writing about DOTD Pwize!!! (Am very happy!)
I'm not sure what they are but they are Pwizes! I think it's like DOTD Pwize is like a Supreme Grand Diary Pwize. So maybe being Feature Diary Pwize is like a Grand Diary Pwize? or maybe it is just like a final? Anyway I did SO get an diary honor, Mom !

I was already so proud of my DOTD from Jan 14 that I made my picture from Manytoes my profile and also tried to post my screen shot from Sammie but it won't show up. :( But at least I can see it myself at home.

I SHOULD have also made a screen shot of where it said about 661 treats because now they are GONE! =[ ???!!! There's only 3 there now and OK I admit I lost count but i KNOW I did not eat THAT many yet. Cats must have thought I already had plenty of treats so I only got 3 new ones ... but then SOMEcat came and STOLED my other ones! My six hundred somethingty treats.
(dark glances of suspicion at feline roommates)

Oh wait mom says I should not call the police .... I guess the treats only stay there on the page a little while? (Do they go BAD if you leave them sitting out on Catster too long?) I hope maybe she put them in the fridge? I was suppposed to get all of them but not all at once! I got to make sure that I remind about getting some of them every day.

If only my friend Louis were still here I would ask him to open the fridge to check. Of course if he were still here there would also still be a padlock on the fridge.
