Black Smoke

He LOVES his Greenies!

He greets even strangers at the door and allows them to pet him.

Favorite Toy:
Anything with catnip but he tends to like me to play with him rather than to play by himself.

Favorite Nap Spot:
My bed!

Favorite Food:

He has learned to open doors, cabinets and drawers with his paws. He will sit and will "shake hands" for a treat.

Arrival Story:
I was looking for a cat to replace one that had passed away. I found Ramses in a Petco. They would often have private pet adoption organizations display a few of their available animals. Ramses had the most unusual coat I had ever seen! Black striped but with black spots on his belly and totally silvery gray underneath. He reminded me of those cat statues of Bast. He looks so much like one of those Egyptian Maus--the smoke colored ones. He even has the belly flap and the green eyes. The woman who was fostering him actually specialized in Persians and other purebreds, Ramses had been found abandoned as a kitten and brought to her by either the police or the fire department. He was only about 4 months old when I adopted him.

Ramses is SO attached to me I was really surprised at first. I have had quite a few cats but none quite so "connected" with me. He sleeps next to me every single night, sometimes with his head on my shoulder. Like Egyptian Maus, he is very vocal, too. He is clever with his paws, having figured out how to open doors, cabinets and drawers.

More About Ramses:
Ramses talks a lot. When he wants something, anything, it's "meow, meow, meow, meow!" If he doesn't get what he wants, he will meow in a mournful way. If you are not quick enough with handing out the treats, he makes little "huffing" sounds, too. When he is ready to go to sleep, he has to announce himself ("Meow!") before he leaps onto the bed. And since he is a rather large cat, at about 19 lbs, you KNOW when he jumps up!
