Arrival Story:
My first siamese was hit by a car when I was a freshman in high school. I went for four years without another cat, period, when my mom asked me if I wanted another Siamese. I jumped at the chance, and in January 1999 I was in the backseat of our Nissan Pathfinder, with a small BOLD little kitten on my thigh. All claws deployed. And she's been mine ever since.

Bio:
Midori was a fat little lump who hadn't been seperated from Mom for more then three months, and that was when Mom first went to Japan. Midori was a great companion who died after a very quick bout with liver disease. She died peacefully in the arms of her grandma, tho Mom wishes it had been her arms.

Beloved Midori

Midori died on September 14th at 7:15am PST. She'd had a tooth infection which may have led to her not eating, which eventually led to fatty liver disease.
I can't help but feel guilty. I came to Japan, after swearing up and down that I wouldn't until after she died. I can't help but wonder if she started losing weight because I wasn't there or if I had been there, might I have noticed the problem earlier?
My comfort is she died peacefully, in my mother's arms after falling unconscious and having a seizure. She showed no signs of being in any pain, purring unto the last.

Over one year

Mom and I have been in Seattle for well over a year now. I've gotten fatter by a few ounces. Mom has gotten me more toys and scratching posts, but I still prefer her couch.
We've gone back to California once, and I handled the plane flight better then my first time. And I did the flight down without AAAAAAAANY triptophan in my tummy. But thats just because I refused to eat the funny smelling treats Mom gave me.
I ate them for Grandma. Which made Mom frustrated.

I think we're going back again soon. Mom has the suitcase out and she's been trying to bribe me into eating the funny smelling treats.

Seattle?

So Mom and I have been in this new city for about a month now. It's not too bad. I have a lot more room to run then before and there's no dogs with open mouths waiting for me on the other sides of doors.
I didn't LIKE the plane ride, but then again I don't remember much of it. Mom force fed me something right before she shoved me into the carrier and I think I slept most of the time. Mom made me feel better by putting her hand inside the carrier a few times and petting me.

There have been plenty of new smells too. Like when Mom goes out with those other two humans she sometimes comes back smelling of weird animals. Sometimes too when Mom messes up a cooking experiement, there's a lot of new smells then.

Mom is still getting the place settled and is moving furniture around a lot. I don't quite like it, since everytime I get a new spot, Mom moves something over it. But I think I've found a spot she can't do anything to; the bedroom window. I just discovered it the other day, and whenever there's sunshine to be had I'm in that window soaking it up.

Off to go claw the new couch!
