Leave a treat for Elvin

Special Gift Box:

Nicknames: Elvie; Elviekins; Fatty Lumpkin; Jones of an Elvin

Quick Bio:
 Birthday: May 15th 2000
Likes: affection from his humans; cuddling with Hilda; food

Pet-Peeves: being followed around by Hilda and/or Hetty Miep; being on a diet because Hilda is on a diet; going to the veterinarian's office; being kissed by his humans

Favorite Toy: his siblings

Favorite Nap Spot: on the couch

Favorite Food: wet cat food; parmesan cheese

Skills: very athletic--can jump very high

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: I decided that Garp needed his own pet/companion, so my husband and I went to the local shelter to look for a kitten. We were told that Elvin had been found in a tree. I let my husband pick out the kitten, and he selected Elvin. I went back to look at Elvin the next day, and he was in a cage with another very sweet kitten. I guess Elvin suspected that I was considering adopting the other kitten instead. To get rid of the competition, he went over to where she was sitting and sat on her head!

Bio: Elvin walks like he is bowlegged. My husband named Elvin after the late drummer, Elvin Jones. I suspect that is one of the reasons Elvin is so crazy. Even though I said my husband wasn't allowed to pick out any more cat names, I let him name Elvin's younger brother (Art Blakey). At least Elvin has someone to jam with.

Written by Artie’s female human:
I am reposting the following information from Artie’s recent diary entries.
I received some very sad news from a good Catster friend. Julie has been caring for 10 cats now for several years. Although that sounds like a lot of cats, she has taken very good care of them (she was licensed to have all cats and received yearly, unannounced inspections, which she always passed). Unfortunately, the apartment that Julie was renting has been foreclosed (the landlord still collected payments from her even though he wasn’t making payments himself!), and she will have to find a new place to live. Julie is having a very difficult time finding a place that she can afford (she is disabled and on a very fixed income) and that will permit cats. She is afraid she might have to give up all of her cats. I know that would truly devastate her.
Two no-kill shelters accepted four of Julie’s cats but she still needs to find homes for three of the cats. She has called around to all shelters within a 100-mile radius. They are all full. Julie is hoping to keep three of her cats, but she will definitely need to find homes/no-kill shelter for the other three cats.
I’m posting the following plea again in hopes that someone can help Julie find new homes for her cats (as well as for Julie). Please pass this information on to anyone you know who might be willing to adopt a cat (or cats). Although Julie lives in Central California, it might be possible to transport these cats to other areas of the country (with the help of the Caster Railroad). The cats still needing to be rehomed are the following:
1) Fuzz is a handsome 16-year-old boy with a lovely tuxedo pattern. Fuzz is laid back, loves being pet, and has a high-pitched little meow. Due to Fuzz’s age, Julie is having difficulty finding a new home for him. It breaks her heart to have to re-home him (he has lived with her for 13 years).
2) Autumn is a 10-year-old Abyssian mix with green eyes. Autumn suffered previous abuse but has come a long way since Julie rescued her. Autumn has hypercalcemia and receives sub-q fluids every other day but is otherwise doing very well.
3) Beijo is an adorable, sensitive 4-year-old boy. Beijo has never been in a shelter (just a previous foster home).

What three-legged black and white cat, whose name rhymes with Fartie, keeps getting himself stranded on top of the dryer and loudly howls a seal-in-distress cry until one of the humans “rescues” him? An anonymous insider reports that the other cats are not happy that their access to downstairs is cut off when the humans aren’t home just because this cat hasn’t learned that he can’t jump down from the dryer.

Even though Hetty Miep made me swear an oath to hate the kittens, it’s kind of hard to hate them. Life’s a lot better for me since they came along. Artie’s not trying to cape me every day, and sometimes I get lucky and find a piece of kitten food in the corner of the kitten’s room. Besides, Hilda and I were both rolling our eyes as we recited our “oath” in front of Hetty Miep. I kind of think that invalidates the oath. Sometimes it’s best just to humor Hetty Miep, though.
