For now, Peggy likes having a wrm and comfy home best of all.
Being looked at by Ralph
Darling...Ladies don't play with toys...
Favorite Nap Spot:
She loves her little room and bed. When she has full run of the house we will update her profile :o)
She is enjoying Merrick and Innova Evo wet food. Yummy!
Surviving on her own for so long, melting hearts, and purr therapy
This sweet kitty was left behind when her people moved. A family down the street was feeding her and we thought she lived with them. Then a few weeks ago I saw animal control taking her away. I stopped and spoke to the family I thought she lived with and I found out that she had been a stray trying to make it on her own for THREE YEARS. My heart sank. We have walked by her so many times, always thinking she had a home. We decided to "Make it right" for her. The county shelter allowed me to adopt her even though she is had a very bad upper respiratory infection, and she is getting better each day. Lots of TLC will help her to become healthy and happy again. When she is healthy and ready to begin life on the right paw, she will be ready for adoption. As we learn more about Peggy we will be able to help her to find the best possible home. She will have her teeth cleaned and all of her medical care taken care of before she is adopted, of course. And who knows...maybe she will like it here with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Maybe she already IS home? What is best for Peggy is what we want, so we shall see >^..^< *Purrs!*
After searching far and wide for the perfect name, we are calling this lovely lass Margaret (we call her Peggy) . Derived from Greek "Pearl" and Persian "Daughter of Light"...perfect =o). Mayhem suggested Ann after Saint Anthony, so she is now officially Peggy Ann. Thanks Mayhem and Mary!!

I just have to share that one of the greatest things about Miss Peg is that she is just so content all of the time. I work from home most days, and she likes to be in her little bed right next to my computer on my desk. She will play a bit, but she really just seeks out a place to curl up and nap. Today I think she has been purring constantly. Just a lovely little contented purr. She is sleeping upside down a lot, which tells me she is feeling at home. That is what we want for her, and it gives me great joy to report that she even purrs in her sleep.
Wishing all of Peg's friends and their mamas and papas could feel her soft warm little body and hear her purr. I hope this description has been close enough.
We love her so much.
That's all...just had to share!

I am writing this from the hospital, where I have captured the hearts of my wonderful vet, Dr. Perkin, and her special ladies. Did you know that one of her vet tech is named Peggy too?
Well, first the sad, since I want to end with the good: I came in to have my teeth cleaned today, and to see if I was going to get to keep my white ear or not. Mom also wanted them to re-do my bloodwork. Well..... it turns out that I am positive for FIV. I was picked on my bigger cats when I was on my own, and it must have happened when I got into a fight at some point. So Dr. Perkin said she does not want to operate on me until I have a couple weeks of heavy duty antibiotics in me first. My mom is sad, but she also knows a lot about FIV, and she knows that I can live happily with Ralph and Joe with no problem. She also has a lot of good stuff for my immune system, so all in all, I am in a good place.
...Sigh... I think mom needs a bigger hug than I do to be honest. ♥
Now for the good news: My ear is STAYING! Yes, it is normal!!! I will always have a jagged edge from the frostbite, but I get to keep it. Yaaayyyy!
And for the REALLY GOOD NEWS: You may have noticed that the ~Adoptable~ has been removed from my profile. Mom and Dad think they need to make absolutely sure I get the best nutrition and immune support possible, and although I don't love everybody 100%, I am showing them that I do love living here. They just wanted me to be as happy as I can be. But because I need extra special TLC, they asked me if I would be willing to overlook some of everybody's less than perfect qualities. I said yes, and now I am staying. So March 1 is going to be my birthday from now on.
With lots of love,

I may have mentioned that I might have a teeny tiny bit of skin cancer on my white ear. Dr. Perkin though it might be frostbite, but she said it looks like skin cancer to her, especially since it has not gone away with medicine and TLC. Good thing I got to see such a good vet! If she had not noticed, it could have become worse. She says that kind of cancer is "A Gressive"...I don't know what that is, but I don't think I want anything to with such a thing!
Anyway, My ear was looking better, but not totally. I go in to have my teeth cleaned and the last of the mats shaved off on March 3, and I'm afraid I may have to say goodbye to the top part of my cute white ear. At least I will get to keep the cool orange and black one! And mom says I will be able to hear just fine.
So in the case this is my ear's last week on my cute little head, I wanted to give it center stage for the next week. Mommy keeps kissing it. I think she is trying to kiss it better >^..^<
PS: Ralph, if you are reading this, don't you DARE try to kiss my ear, or we will both be missing an ear by the time next week rolls around.
