indoors Arrival Story: Lucy was a resident of Kindred Kitties until we found her passed away on 12-8-11. RIP sweet Lucy. Bio: Lucy is very sociable and has her playful moments, except when she needs to poop! She has a bit of a waddle when she walks, which we find endearing. Lucy has been diagnosed with manx-syndrome. This means that she becomes constipated and has difficult expelling feces. She is medicated twice a day with a pill called Cisipride (a stimulant) and 3 MLs of Lactalose (or once in a while Karo Syrup) to help with lubrication. She is litterbox trained and tries very hard to go but often after straining for a while she will leave the litterbox and drop a medium-to-large poop outside of the box. There are times when she gets very grumpy -- we are then aware that she has probably gotten a bit constipated and we administer a small enema (about once every 3-4 months).
UPDATE 1-20-11 - Lucy now takes Miralax instead of Lactulose, which is sold over the counter at any drug store and is very inexpensive. She is doing excellent on this combination and does not require enemas anymore. We are still looking for a good forever home for her.UPDATE: Lucy passed away in Dec of 2011. The volunteers who clean our Adoption Center in the morning found her on the floor by the door. RIP Sweet Lucy!!
