Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon

Last night and the night before was the full moon. It's called the Beaver Moon, or Frosty Moon. Mom said that those kind of sound like stripper names. Full moons usually bring out some extra zoom zoomies, but I felt pretty relaxed last night actually. Maybe it's cuz the moon's so tiny right now. it is supposed to be the smallest full moon of this year, and if you look at it, it really does look smaller than usual! Very cute little moon glowing up in the sky.

Ahhh, winter. I'm loving my good old spot up on my high shelf under the heating vent. Toasty.

Unfortunately, winter brings on a nasty habit of my mom's. Eating ORANGES. Yucky big navel oranges. For some reason she always craves them in winter. She's sitting at the table peeling one now. I took one whiff and jumped down, then took off running. I'm crouching across the room, staring at her with my Most disapproving SQUINT, and I'm wrinkling my nose in disdain. Yeah, that's right, you-- you ORANGE EATER. My own mother, peeling an orange ball of yuck. She better wash her hands before she tries to pet me.

that's her body telling her to get vitamin c she can't get it from the sun cause the sun to is far away this time of year so her body craves it and she gets it from the oranges.

We were all doing OK here till around 3:30 AM, when everyone - peeps and furs, seemed to wake up simultaneously. (I've been sleeping inside lately - no accidents yet :)).Not sure what that was about, but the pawrents gave us a snack and we settled down for a bit - well, except Fearless who kept pawing at the door saying "But it's so BRIGHT outside; why CAN'T I go out for a walk? Then around 4:30 AM, the running started. I'm not saying WHO started it, but this was the end result: I went outside - because I asked to; the girls went to their room, beds and all. Sleeper was already IN her bed, but the Papa carried the whole thing in there with her in it!

Maybe that explains it...the past two nights I have been getting up and playing with toys. And when I play with my toys, I talk to them. I woke Mom up both nights because she heard me meowing. We don't like the smell of oranges either.

Hi everybody! Socks, aren't you cold going out at night? I haven't been able to go out for long walks because it's too cold out. I turn around and go back to the door after a couple minutes. And it's even colder at night. You are a brave tom, Socks. I guess you are also furrier than me though.
A while ago, I wrote about how I heard that in India they call a full moon a cat's moon. I like that. But the full moon names are pretty cool- December's is called the Full Cold Moon, or the Full Long Night's Moon. ;) January is the Wolf Moon, February- Snow Moon, March- Worm Moon, April- Pink Moon, May- Flower Moon, June- Strawberry Moon, July- Buck Moon (male stripper name!), August- Sturgeon Moon (mmm- fish!), September- Corn Moon or Harvest Moon. October's is really cool- the Hunter's Moon or Blood Moon. That one's for us cats.

It's cold out there, but I've only recently become an indoor/outdoor cat, so my winter coat has had the chance to grow in. The Mama can feel the difference between the girls and me when she pets us. Though, truth to tell, Sleeper is the one who under the same conditions would have us all beat - she's got a very heavy coat no matter what the weather.

December Moon- Hum.....Candy Moon, Santa's little helper Moon, Prancer Moon. Naw. I can't do any better, they all sound like strippers.

About Oranges, they do smell pretty strong. She probably thinks were strange for licking our butts. Whats wrong with that?

Socks hush about the cold and go find Fearless.

Heehee, Zach, - "Candy Moon, get up on that pole!" Totally a stripper name.
There ought to be a Chicken Moon, or a Cheese Moon.
Hey Sleeper, you do really have plush fur. I've noticed that before. My fur is really short, it doesn't keep me warm at all. It is very soft and shiny at least.

If the moon is made of green cheese, there surely should be a cheese moon...and what about the proverbial 'Blue Moon'?

Somewhere meowmy read that orange peels are a great kitty repellent if one is needed, say to keep a kitty out of a forbidden pawlace/area.

um...don't furget about the Moonies, MOL!!

Moonies- like Reverend Moon Moonies? It's such a kooky name for a religious group.
I read that a Blue Moon is when there are 2 full moons in one month. It happens sometimes. My mom said that the Blue Moon is when Baby Smurf was born. Heehee ;)

I think Beaver Moon definitely sounds like a stripper name - MOL! My people like the oranges too. One of the dogs LOVES them - she's weird.

On the subject of weird tastes in dogs - the Mama says their little terrier Miss Essie liked raw brussel sprouts! She used to follow her around in the garden when she was picking them! Green peas, too.

Actually, I love peas- especially sugar snap peas. I love steamed sugar snap peas so much that i will steal them off my mom's plate if she leaves it alone for a minute. I guess I'm weird too- i'm kind of embarrassed now.

Food eccentricities just add spice to life, if you'll excuse the little pun. :) Pay no attention to the young Fearless One - no respect for their elders these days - it's very sad!

Heehee. Thanks! The worst is when I see mom open the refrigerator and I get all excited, pushing my way in to see, and then she pulls out an ORANGE.

Personally, Toki, I think citrus fruits should be illegal.
