Nicknames: little Chanel, Chanel-baby, Chanelie, cha ne ne
Gotcha Date: December 1st 2005
Birthday: August 1st 2003
Likes: Laying on my lap, playing with toys, waiting for me to get home and then make a mad dash to run out the front door. She knows I will walk with her for awhile before she is told to go home
Pet-Peeves: Zeba her brother just because! She just can't help but run up to him and tag him and take off running leaving him stunned and puzzled.
Favorite Toy: blue circle that has ball inside, chasing red laser light, catnip bubbles, brown fur mouse
Favorite Nap Spot: Laying on my lap, propping up head and laying on top of blue circle ball toy, propping head on top of peoples shoes, my bed sleeping pressed against me, cat scratching tree and cat beds and most of all whatever bed she can steal from Zeba and take over
Favorite Food: Cat treats and dry food. Just likes to take a couple of licks of wet food just for taste
Skills: Lay's flat on her back like a human being and then falls to sleep. Stands on hind legs for cat treats. Has learned to come running when called because cat treats taste so good.
Arrival Story: I was devastated after the loss of my beloved cat Zara and Zeba was 12 at the time so I thought maybe I would think of when I would adopt another cat because the thought of losing Zeba next was to hard to think about. I wasn't ready to adopt yet since it had only been a few weeks so I wondered if there were persian cat rescues since I new I had to have another persian eventually. I started to google it and to my surprise there were persian cat rescues. I knew that would be the way for me when I was ready.
After looking at petfinder just for the fun of it (I wasn't looking but yet I could't stop looking) I came across my Chanel and I took one look at her and I knew that was my cat! She was still with the family she needed a new home because her elderly mom at the time couldn't take her to the convalescent home. I'm happy for Chanel that she had great beginnings and then came to live with us at 2 yrs. old on 12/1/05. It was a rough start with Zeba. He was not happy to my surprise but we stuck in there and now were one big happy family 4 years later.
Bio: Chanel is a wonderfully beautiful, sweet, affectionate cat. She is my first true lap cat. She loves and has to be on my lap the first thing when I wake up. She will go to all lengths to get a seat there even let out a little meow which only happens when she means what she says and says what she means.
Lately, I've learned a new trick. When I watch my human leave I stand by the door and wait because often she zips out for a very short time. As soon as she opens the door I zoooommmm out the door! Ahhhhhh, fresh air and I run down the open air walkway. So my sweet human said, okay this is what will do. We will compromise and I'll walk with you up and down the hall as long as you learn that you must walk next to me and turn when I turn. So being a good kitty and all I thought okay I will do my best to compromise! And so I did......with conditions! The front door must stay open at all times while I'm in the hall. If the door closes even if your out with me the deal has been broken! I will run to the door and cry and complain! So, she said door stays open. Well back to earlier tonight, things didn't go as planned! She zipped out for 15 mins. I waited she came back I zooommeddd!!! And I zoommeed like I never zoomed before! I was so very stealth!! Wait she didn't come after me according to our agreement I usually go a few feet and I stop and look back to wait for her and when she catches up we have a lovely walk together with the door open! Not this time I was so stealth that she didn't know and closed the door and LOCKED it! YIKES, I was locked out! She didn't hear my knock so I scratched like I was scratching to the bottom of the earth!! Nothing happened the magic door did not open. She said she was near the door and heard all my scratching but thought since the litter box is near I was just doing my usual obsessive scratching in the box. She heard me all that time the whole few minutes I was out alone in the real world. (oh drama, drama). She said it sounded weird so she looked at the litter box and saw I wasn't there and then she noticed my big brother who often enjoys picking on me sitting near the door just staring at it and never blinked an eye! He was enjoying my drama! She realized I was outside because she heard all the scratching was coming from the front door and opened it and I RANNNN inside and I thought huh I'm not doing that again.........wellll, I have a short memory...... until next time maybe it will be different then!!!
