Last night we watched one of our fave shows on Animal Planet called “My Cat from Hell.” We love the host Jackson Galaxy and think it is so cool that a big guy with earrings and tattoos is so into cats. He worked for years at animal shelters and saw a lot of cats get euthanized because they were anti-social and “un-adoptable.” He really understands us felines and knows what we need.
If you’ve never seen the show, Jackson goes into people’s homes every week and gives them advice on how to manage bad cat behavior. Mean and snarly cats end up acting like love bugs once Jackson gets done retraining the cat’s family members. The cats are not really bad; they are just misunderstood by their humans.
Here are a few of Jackson’s basic rules of having a happy cat:
• Play with your cat often. Jackson reminds us that cats need to release energy through play. Aggressive behaviors are often a result of a kitty not being able to express their wild side which can cause stress. Stress can cause bad behavior.
• Cats need to scratch. We are always surprised when Jackson goes into a home and the people are upset that kitty scratches up all the furniture. Then we see that there are no cat scratchers or kitty furniture or anything for the cat to scratch on. HELLO! Kitties need their own scratch surfaces, otherwise they will go for the human furniture.
• The feline-human bond is very similar to the human-human bond. That relationship is based on love, respect, and compromise. Guess what? Since cats don’t understand compromise, it will need to come from the human. Thank you, Jackson, for pointing this out!
My idol Jackson Galaxy
Happy Sunday and remind your human to spend lots of time playing with you!

Wow, Sammy, you've got a great view of Jackson Galaxy there! Love your big flat screen tv. That's great to report and tell people about those rules. We saw the show for a little while last night, but missed most of it. We really enjoy the show and like anything that can help kitties.
Meowmy was going to watch that last night, but by the time she got to the TV the show was over...HISS! MOL!
We sure hope that the peeps who need to watch these do, so that less kities will end up in shelters or worse...
We LOVE Jackson and we love the show!
I likes anybody that likes kitties and works to save them from being thrown out! When you adopt a kitty, it's for lifes! Mommy always says, something absolutely unimaginable would have to happen to give us up, and first, she'd exhaust every friend and family member we had to watch us for a while until she could take us back. Even if ALL of that fails, she makes darn sure we'd end up back at the no kill group we came from to be adopted together, but again, mommy can't think of any situation where that would happen if she's here. Kitties are for lifes! Keeps us for lifes! Loves us for lifes!
I never saw that show but he sounds like he knows what he's talking about! Especially about playing w/your kitty often *looks at mom* If mom would give me MORE attention then I bet she wouldn't be able to call me "el diablo" anymore. I dunno what she means by that. MOL! Doesn't she know its all about ME? Tee hee! I gotta go have mom set that show up to record...she could learn a few things!
Hugs & purrs,
I think it is usually not the cats that are the problem, it is the humans! Once Jackson Galaxy straightens them out, everything is fine. Cat owners can learn alot by watching this show :)
Sammy, great picture of you watching this show on tv!
It's a pawsome show!
Hi Gumpy, Pipo, Teebo, River, Julius, Zoey, and Jez! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my photo with Jackson Galaxy. He is one cool Dude, and we love how he has helped so many kitties with his show. It's very educational, and we hope a lot of cat pawrents are able to watch it.
Totally agree with you Zoey that it's the humans, not the cats who are the problem. They just need some education on why the cat is unhappy and what needs to change in the environment.
P.S. So sorry my photo is so ginormous ~ Mom can't figure out how to resize it properly in Photobucket.
sammy...tanx mew for de post...we doez knot have cable tee and vee sew we will set sail for yur houz; if thatz OK.....we will bring sum snaks N samiches....kewl perch two !!!
