Arrival Story: Blackie starting sleeping on our porch and he would be out there every morning when I went to work. When the weather got colder we had to take him in. Our other cat Kikki didn't really like him that much but he really liked her. He was really my mother's cat. She died on 11/10/2002. He had a lot of problems from his diabetes he got when he was older and was getting worse after she die. He died on 11/10/2003. I feel that my mother took him to be with her. I always told my mother that I wanted a kitten to be Blackie's little friend. ( our other cat died in 1997 ). She always said that both she and blackie were too old for any kittens. A month before Blackie died the kitten Andy was left on my porch. Andy and Blackie got along great but Blackie was getting worse from his diabetes. I feel that my mother sent me Andy because she knew it was time for Blackie to be with her.
Bio: Blackie was an indoor outdoor cat. One day right after we started letting him come inside. He came home with his eye scratched up and damaged. We think a raccoon beat him up. The vet took his eye out. He also had a lot other kitty medical problems. He had urinay blockage, diabetes, and bad kitty dandruff. Every June I would take him for a haircut and shampoo. He was always a good patient at the vet's everyone would always hug and kiss him. He had a very good vet who was forced to move from his office because the other building would not let him rent parking space anymore. The new vet was not as familiar with cats with diabetes.
If you do have a cat with diabetes it can go away if the cat starts to be more active, his new little friend Andy was keeping him up more. I did not know this but Blackie did go thru a lot, so I think it was his time to go but it was still hard.
