Uh-Oh, It's Magic!

November 27th 2008 6:44 am   [link to this entry]

I went poking around downstairs in the basement like I normally do, but this time I found a couple of fun toys to play with - curling ribbons! Of course, I didn't tell anyone about my new toys - I had them all to myself - muahahahaha! One was green and the other was yellow. Why am I telling you what colors they were? You'll see...keep reading...

Later on while I was back upstairs, I had a hairball developing right in the kitchen for Momma to see and then my secret was discovered - out came a wet hairball along with green curling ribbon - yikes! Momma panicked when she saw green stuff in the hairball and thought I was getting sick like my sister MooMoo so Momma called Daddy into the kitchen to help investigate. They figured out what it was and Momma ran downstairs to the basement to try and find out where I had been playing.

Sure enough, Momma found the green and yellow spools of curling ribbon hanging down from a box. Momma wound up the spools and put them in a better hiding place.

The next day, Momma was cleaning out my litter box and guess what she found? My next trick - yellow curling ribbon in my poop! Ha! I can make one color come out one end and another color appear out of the other! I am TRULY a master magician! Don't ask me how I did it - a true magician doesn't reveal his secrets (and I have a feeling I will not be repeating this trick ever again - not if Momma or Daddy can help it!) And...I have NO idea how the different colors did that - it's M-A-G-I-C !

It WAS my birthday

September 14th 2008 5:15 am   [link to this entry]

So my birthday came and went and no celebration from home - hmph! But my Catster/Dogster friends remembered - thank you! Well, the fact that Momma and Daddy were on vacation and I was in a cattery when my birthday arrived probably had something to do with the lack of celebration - oops! Rest assured - I did finally get my birthday celebration with a special dinner, lots of lovins, lots of treats, and a couple of toys. I also went to the vet for my annual exam (lost 1 lb) and the groomers (bath/haircut). Now I'm more handsome than ever! (Those are Momma's exact words - heh).

Love those free Febreze zealies!

August 1st 2008 11:01 pm   [link to this entry]

Thanks to all the kind Catsters and Dogsters that have been sending the cool Febreze collars our way! Since Momma has gone totally bonkers trying to send them, she's taking a break. We'll try again later and hopefully get more sent out. Who knows, I might talk her into changing my page background, too, while she's at it - MOL!

I said "Momma!"

August 1st 2008 1:50 am   [link to this entry]

Well, it sounded like I said that, according to Momma and Daddy. Momma always tries a few times each day to get me to say "Momma" to no avail. A couple of days ago Momma and Daddy were sharing some of their shrimpies with me and asked me to say "Momma". I'll do anything for shrimpies so out of my puss came the word "Momma" and oh boy, what a reaction I got from Momma and Daddy! I said it again and thankfully there were no cameras around, much to Momma and Daddy's dismay. I'm not a fan of cameras as you can probably tell by some of my photos. Momma and Daddy were so proud of me but of course, when they asked me to say it again, I couldn't. Guess it was just the shrimpies talking - MOL!

Mr. D is home! Hooray!

July 26th 2008 10:35 pm   [link to this entry]

One of our Catster friends, Mr. D, is finally back home after missing for 6 months! Is that a miracle or what?! We would check Mr. D's page every once in a while to read the updates that his momma would write. His momma truly deserves a medal for all that she has done to find Mr. D - even so far as dressing up in a cat costume on a busy road with a sign. Now that's love and devotion! She never gave up hope and thankfully, someone spotted the one and only Mr. D and he's finally home again, safe and sound. Whew! Welcome back home, Mr. D!

THANK YOU!

A big "THANK YOU" to everyone for the rosettes, p-mails, and congrats! It really meant a lot to me and made me feel extra special! I had a great day yesterday and topped it off with having tuna for dinner - yummy! Thank you again to Catster and all my friends to making this day one to remember!

I'm Catster's "Cat of the Day"!

March 10th 2008 1:35 am   [link to this entry]

Oh, my goodness! What an honor! Thank you so much, Catster! My momma can't stop smiling! She can hardly type this, she's so excited - MOL! What a great way to start the day! Thank you again! Meow, Meow!

It's snowing!

January 14th 2008 6:26 am   [link to this entry]

Hello, everyone! It snowed a LOT last night and this morning! I'm just so excited, I can hardly stand it! When I watch the snow fall, I always try to catch some snowflakes when they hit the glass - MOL! I never catch any but today I got to go outside with Momma, Daddy, and MooMoo! Momma held me so I could check out all the beautiful winter snow. I'm an indoors cat and I'm not used to stepping out in this fluffy stuff so needless to say that I quite enjoyed myself! I spied some birds and squirrels while I was out there - bet I made them nervous being outside with them - heh, heh, heh.

New Year's Resolutions

December 31st 2007 10:16 pm   [link to this entry]

I will not puff my entire body to twice its size for no reason after my Daddy has finished watching a horror movie.

I must not help myself to Q-tips, and I must certainly not proceed to stuff them down the sink's drain.

I will not eat large numbers of assorted bugs, then come home and puke them up so the humans can see that I'm getting plenty of roughage.

I will not lean way over to drink out of the tub, fall in, and then pelt right for the box of clumping cat litter. (It took FOREVER to get the stuff out of my fur.)

I will not stand on the bathroom counter, stare down the hall, and growl at NOTHING after my human has finished watching The X-Files.

I will not use the bathtub to store live mice for late-night snacks.

I will not perch on my Momma in the middle of the night and stare into her eyes until she wakes up.

We will not play "Herd of Thundering Wildebeests Stampeding Across the Plains of the Serengeti" over any humans' bed while they're trying to sleep, especially Grandma's - MOL!

I cannot leap through closed windows to catch birds or squirrels outside. If I forget this and bonk my head on the window and fall behind the couch in my attempt, I will not get up and do the same thing again.

I will not assume the patio door is open when I race outside to chase leaves.

I will not intrude on my human's candle-lit bubble bath and singe my bottom.

I will not stick my paw into any container to see if there is something in it. If I do, I will not hiss and scratch when my human has to shave me to get the rubber cement out of my fur.

If I bite the cactus, it will bite back.

When it rains, it will be raining on all sides of the house. It is not necessary to check every door.

Birds do not come from the bird feeder. I will not knock it down and try to open it up to get the birds out.

MooMoo can see me coming when I stalk her. She can see me and will move out of the way when I pounce, letting me smash into floors and walls. That does not mean I should take it as a personal insult when my humans sit there and laugh.

I will not play "dead cat on the stairs" while people are trying to bring in groceries or laundry, or else one of these days, it will really come true.

When any humans play darts, I will not leap into the air and attempt to catch them.

*+*+* HAPPY NEW YEAR ~ BEST WISHES FOR 2008 !!! *+*+*

Merry Christmas!

December 29th 2007 9:44 pm   [link to this entry]

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I was very spoiled with all the presents I received! My favorite was a Boogie Mat from my Grandma - where has this mat been all my life? I absolutely adore it! And I adore Grandma, too, of course! Now that all the presents are opened and mostly put away, there's more room under the tree for me - MOL! That's my favorite hiding place now! I don't know what I'll do once the tree comes down, but that's not until next week so I don't have to worry about that...yet!

Cat Rules For Wrapping Christmas Presents

December 11th 2007 2:28 am   [link to this entry]

1. Clear large space on table for wrapping present.
2. Go to wardrobe and collect bag in which present is contained, and close door.
3. Open door and remove cat from wardrobe.
4. Go to cupboard and retrieve rolls of wrapping paper.
5. Go back and remove cat from cupboard.
6. Go to drawer and collect transparent sticky tape, ribbons, scissors, labels, etc.
7. Lay out present and wrapping materials on table, to enable wrapping strategy to be formed.
8. Go back to drawer to get string, remove cat that has been in the drawer since last visit, and collect string.
9. Remove present from bag.
10. Remove cat from bag.
11. Open box to check present, remove cat from box, replace present.
12. Lay out paper to enable cutting to size.
13. Cut the paper to size, trying to keep the cutting line straight.
14. Throw away first sheet because cat tried to chase the scissors and tore the paper.
15. Cut second sheet of paper to size by putting cat in the bag the present came out of.
16. Place present on cut-to-size paper.
17. Lift up edges of paper to seal in present, wonder why edges now don't reach, and find cat between present and paper. Remove cat and retry.
18. Place object on paper, to hold in place, while cutting transparent sticky tape.
19. Spend next 20 minutes carefully trying to remove transparent sticky tape from cat with pair of nail scissors.
20. Seal paper down with transparent sticky tape, making corners as neat as possible.
21. Look for roll of ribbon; chase cat down hall and retrieve ribbon.
22. Try to wrap present with ribbon in a two-directional turn.
23. Re-roll up ribbon and remove paper that is now torn, due to cat's enthusiasm in chasing ribbon end.
24. Repeat steps 12-22 until down to last sheet of paper.
25. Decide to skip steps 12-16 in order to save time and reduce risk of losing last sheet of paper. Retrieve old cardboard box that you know is right size for sheet of paper.
26. Put present in box, and tie down with string.
27. Remove string, open box and remove cat.
28. Put all packing materials in bag with present and head for lockable room.
29. Once inside room, lock door and start to re-lay out packing materials.
30. Remove cat from box, unlock door, put cat outside door, close door, and re-lock.
31. Lay out last sheet of paper. (Admittedly this is difficult in the small area of the toilet, but try your best!)
32. Seal box, wrap with paper and start repairs by very carefully sealing down tears with transparent sticky tape. Now tie up with ribbon and decorate with bows to hide worst affected areas.
33. Label, then sit back and admire your handiwork, congratulating yourself on making good of a bad job.
34. Unlock door, and go to kitchen to make drink and feed cat.
35. Spend next 15 minutes looking for cat, before coming to obvious conclusion.
36. Unwrap present, untie box and remove cat.
37. Retrieve all discarded sheets of wrapping paper, feed cat and retire to lockable room for last attempt, making certain you are alone and the door is locked.
38. At time of handing over present, smile sweetly at receiver's face, as they try and hide their contempt at being handed such a badly wrapped present.
39. Swear to yourself that next year, you will get the store to wrap the darn thing for you.
40. Unlock door and hug your cat since you realize he was only trying to help - his kisses are the best presents anyway!

(okay, my Momma added that last one - just for me! Thanks, Momma! Purrs...)

~ * ~ * ~ Happy Birthday to me! ~ * ~ * ~

September 8th 2007 6:03 am   [link to this entry]

Yes, indeed it was my birthday this past week!! I'm 5 years old now! Same age as my sister MooMoo but she'll always be just a little bit older than me! MOL! I got spoiled on my birthday with some cool toys - catnip crab, sparkly stuff on a stick to paw at, and refills for my Turbo Scratcher - yippee!!! Oh, and of course, some treats, too! I even got my favorite TUNA for my special birthday dinner - yummmy!!! I did share some with MooMoo so she wouldn't get too jealous but hey, it's my birthday after all - I DESERVE to be getting all this good stuff! My pawrents sang "Happy Birthday" to me and they thought I was singing along with them but not really, I was just meowing for them to give me my food! I know it's a special day because of the tuna, I don't need a song to introduce my dinner! MOL! I got lots of lovins all day long and even MooMoo was a little bit nicer to me - imagine that! I had so much fun on my birthday that I was pooped by the end of my special day and fell asleep with my catnip crab in my cat bed. A perfect ending to a perfect day!

Vet Visit

August 18th 2007 4:34 pm   [link to this entry]

I had my annual vet visit yesterday and it went very well. I loathe going there to get probed and stuck with needles but it's worth it to make sure I'm healthy. The vet tech was so very nice - she complimented me on my green eyes and I even got a sample of fresh catnip plucked straight from the plant - how awesome is that? The vet doctor was also very nice even though he gave me a couple of shots - ouch! He was impressed with my nice teeth (thanks Greenies and Friskies crunchy dental treats!) so he gave me an A+ !! Whoo hoo! I couldn't wait to get back in my carrier and head home. I'm just glad it's over and done with until next year!

A Bureau And Berries

July 28th 2007 7:17 pm   [link to this entry]

Momma and Daddy were in a tag sale today. Well, "they" weren't, their stuff was - MOL!!! One time Momma came in the house quickly with this huge picture thingy, leaned it against one of the walls in the living room, then just took off again! What was that all about? Of course, I was curious and had to check this thing out up close and personal.

I saw a bureau and a pretty basket of berries that looked good enough to eat so I tried to paw at the berries but just couldn't get to them! I even tried to touch the bureau but it was like the sliding glass door in our house. How do I get to the berries??? While trying to figure this out, I plopped down in front of that picture thingy and finally determined that I would just wait until the berries fell off the bureau - then I could get to them. Well all this waiting really made me sleepy, especially when I heard it start to rain outside. Momma always says that's good sleeping weather and I agree! Of course, any weather is good sleeping weather for me - MOL!

I started to settle into a nice nap when I heard thunder and lightning outside and oh boy, that's when I got scared! Then I heard Momma and Daddy outside near the door and they came running inside. I didn't know what was going on so I skedaddled myself out of there until I heard them call for me to see if I was okay. Of course, I was okay - I was just checking on the dust bunnies underneath the table, yeah...that's it!

Momma eventually put the picture thingy away somewhere so that will be my adventure for another day to try and find out where it is. I'm just glad both Momma and Daddy are back home since I missed them and it was my dinner time - perfect timing!

I've been tagged!

May 29th 2007 2:46 pm   [link to this entry]

I've been tagged...by my newest Kitty Friend - Oliver! Thanks, Oliver!

The rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write in their own diary about their 7 special things and the rules. You need to choose 7 cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your diary.

My 7 facts:

1. My given name is Merlin, but when my previous owner said goodbye to me before he left for Florida, he called me "Nemo" - weird, huh?

2. I picked my new momma and daddy by walking right up to them and doing the ol' "roll over on my back, please rub my belly" trick - heh - worked like a charm!

3. I am a very lovey dovey dude...except when it comes to strangers! I need to hide out first and check 'em out before they see me again!

4. I occasionally will sit for treats, mostly because it humors my momma, but sometimes, I just can't wait and paw at her leg while she's trying to open the treat bag - hurry up already, momma!

5. My daddy calls me "momma's boy" but he knows I love him, too, especially when I curl up next to him on the chair.

6. I get along most times with my dog sister, MooMoo - we like to cuddle and to get each other in trouble, like most siblings do!

7. I love to play "hide and seek" with momma - it's so much fun!

My 7 tagsters are:

Mercy, Ren, Hamachi, Foot Foot, Asterix, Aja, and Emily

Now its your turn...tag, you're it! Meow, Meow!
