Arrival Story:
Adopting Yawkey was not an easy feat...but one well worth working for! I went into my local animal shelter on November 21st of this year (2009). I saw ther future Yawkey and instantly fell in love. I got to meet him and play with him and there was an instant bond. My mother was with me at the time and even when she held him, he kept crying and reaching out his paws to come back to me. Awwww!! :-) It was quite obvious Yawkey and I were meant to be together! So I told the person working at the shelter that this was the kitten I wanted to adopt. Because he had just been dropped off at the shelter the night before he hadn't been neutered yet. I was told I couldn't take Yawkey home yet. Of course this crushed me! But they told me I could still adopt him and pick him up Monday or Tuesday after he was neutered. I asked them a million times, "Are you SURE he won't go to someone else??" They assured me he would not. After an agonizingly long weekend, I called the shelter on Monday. They advised me that the vet does surgeries on Tuesdays and to call back tomorrow to check. Another long night ahead! So I called back first thing the following day. It was then that I was told poor Yawkey had an eye infection and had been put into isolation for the next 5 days!!! This meant he could not be neutered because he was not healthy enough yet and could not be exposed to anyone or other animals. The shelter promised me again that Yawkey was mine but I would have to call back in a week. So of course I called them everyday for the whole week to check on him! :-) Luckily they understood! So FINALLY on December 1st, I called the shelter and was told Yawkey was ready to come to his new home!! I was beyond excited!!! I was so worried and anxious that somehow Yawkey would mistakenly end up with someone else. But he did not... He ended up right where he's supposed to be...with me!

Bio:
Yawkey has settled in quite well in his new digs. He loves attention and has lots of energy. However, when it's time to sleep, he's a total mama's boy and we cuddle up together! :-)
