Arrival Story:
I had recently had a cat cross The Bridge, and was begging for another kitten. They finally gave in and took me to the Humane Society, none of the kitties seem to click with me, one was too wild, one was pregnant, but everytime I passed this one cage a little gray paw would reach out and grab me. so just when I was about to give up on finding a kitty, I looked into the cage and there was a ball of gray fluff looking back at me. It was love at first sight!! 17 years later he is still my best friend.

Bio:
Smokey loves my fleece pillow, luckily for me he allows me to share it with him..... of course he lays on three-fourths of it and I am left with one corner!! ********************************** ******************************* 1-13-07 It breaks my heart to have to write this, on Wed. January 10 at 9:30pm my dad accidently let Smokey out the front door. In a rare burst of energy he ran out across the street. Dad was unable to catch him or coax him back and I was out of town. I was coming back on Thursday anyway so I got up and left very early that morning. When I got here I searched and searched for Smokey. Sadly, without finding him. It has now been 3 days and we had a hard freeze last night. As much as I hate to admit it, I have given up hope. Smokey will always have a very special place in my heart. No matter how many cats I end up haveing the pleasure being 'owned' by, there will never be another Smokey. I miss you so very much dear friend.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
