Before I get started, let me tell you about one of my newest furriends: Tillie, a sweet young thing who was adopted from a shelter by a family that has never owned a cat before. They love her madly, and because they've never had a cat, Tillie has been asking a lot of questions about how they should take care of her. I, knowing everything, have been answering them. She also has requested more furriends, so I'm asking all of you to run over and make furriends with her. You won't be sorry!
Okay, here's what living the dream is all about. My mom has been working on a story about feline internet sensations, and you are going to die of jealousy when you hear that to date she has interviewed Lil Bub, Henri le Chat Noir, and today - Grumpy Cat! She asks them why they think people are so fascinated by cats on the internet (to the point where they don't get any work done when they're supposed to), what they've done for cat charities, who they think are the next big cat things, and more. The story will be in the January issue of her magazine, and she'll post a link in my diary. And all of their interpreters have offered to send copies of their books to me!
Next week - Colonel Meow!

Let us know if you interview Max the Roomba Cat. When Mom saw the initial video of a cat in a shark costume, on top of a Roomba, chasing a duck while being observed by a pitbull--also in a shark costume--Mom thought "thank God for the Internet," because it wouldn't happen anywhere else!
I hate to admit it, but I really get off on Henri's french accent. I know, I know - that's so trite, so beneath my dignity. What can I say? It's kinda like the embarrassment of the pawrents saying they laughed at the Jim Carey movie - Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
Well, I think that is just wonderful, Monster, and we can hardly wait to read the article! Don't pay any attention to Samhain - she is our personal version of Grumpy Cat.
Cool! And whoa - I gotta look up this Max the Roomba Cat. That is SO me! What's a duck?
Samhain, Ace Ventura is one of my mom's all-time favorite movies and she doesn't care who knows it! Also, here's a secret: Henri's real name is Henry and he doesn't speak French.
MOL Monster, she sure is living the dream! We CAN'T WAIT to read those interviews!
Dang, Monster! You have shot me down! Maybe I've got the wrong cat...isn't there some black and white cat talking in French - the one who lives with the white idiot cat?
And the Mama wants to say there's a funny story attached to that movie. She and the Papa took a trip to Chicago years back, and as they sometimes do, they stopped at a movie theatre and chose a movie at random. It was Ace Ventura. The next night they found a used bookshop on their wanderings, and were enjoying talking shop with the owner. Everything was going fine and they'd developed a great rapport, until they happened to mention that they'd just seen that movie. The look on his face was priceless. He'd apparently just discovered that this nice couple of fellow booksellers were WAY-Y-Y beneath his touch - MOL! End of conversation!
Samhain, you are correct - Henri is the big black and white, French-speaking existential cat, and he does live with the imbecile blanc. But that is just his film character, according to the thieving filmmaker.
Back to Ace Ventura - Mom thinks she was the only person in the theater who laughed at the 3rd person on the grassy knoll joke. No one else seemed to get it. And she loves when he tries to stuff himself in a box. And the pool scene at the party where he creeps his fingers along the building ledge while he's standing on the ground. And nibbling baby corn with tiny bites. OMC!
Wow - so cool!
OK, Monster - you've just convinced her that she wants to see it again. But she's not telling anyone this time. :) Oh, and I bet your mom liked Austin Powers too.
