Arrival Story:
When our little kitty Sorrel passed away in 2006 I desperately needed to have another cat in my life. So I started looking in the classifieds, and eventually found this fella. He belonged to a retired vet and needed a new home. He seemed great at their house, we took him home, and he was a completely different cat. Terrified completely. He hid behind the laundry machine or under the bed for days. I'd catch a glimpse of him sneaking out to use the litter box or get some food, but he'd shoot right back into hiding. Ossie is not an adaptable cat! I was despairing. I thought we would have to return him. But very slowly he gained confidence. Now he is a wonderful pet, we are very tightly bonded. He has a home for life.

Bio:
Ossie is unique! At his previous home he had broken a hind leg. It healed a bit wrong. He can run and jump with no problem but when he sits down the leg sticks out to the side. It looks funny. He also has a kink in his tail. poor guy! He has a super long skinny tail too. We call it a periscope tail because you can always see it up in the air as he cats around, and he touches you with it as he walks past. Ossie is one dignified cat. He is very touchy. If you're petting him 'wrong' or a little too hard he'll get all offended and walk off. He hates to be picked up. Lap sitting is such a rare occurance, if he does jump up and sit with me I won't dare move because I don't want to disturb him, I love it when he wants to be with me! He is an awful beggar but I indulge him because I want to please him. I can't discipline him, it makes him look too pathetic, I couldn't bear to hurt him. I can't stand it when he's mad at me. This cat has me wrapped around him paw big time! Lol. But he is so cool. We are really bonded. When you have to work hard to win someone's love it is different. My other cats adore everyone. Ossie just seems so fragile to me too. He was extrememly ill in 08 and I had to nurse him back to health. I worry about him more than any of my other animals. He spends most of his time outside, especially in good weather. But he loves the comfort of a warm house more than the other two cats. In the winter he starts banging on the door first thing in the morning, wanting to be let in so he can snooze in a warm spot.
