Arrival Story:
Honey is one of the strays that I've been feeding for about a year now over where I used to live. About 3 weeks ago, Honey disappeared and I have no idea what happened to her. One of her kittens was hit by a car last week and I pulled it's little body off the road which told me something bad happened to Honey. Honey reappeared on Monday and was hopping on 3 legs. She was holding up her left rear leg. I took her to the vet and the x-rays showed she has a fractured pelvis. They recommended I take her to an orthopedic surgeon a couple of cities away. I took her to see him today. He said that her body has already started to heal itself in the position that the pelvis is in right now (which is twisted from front to back). He thinks she got hit by a car. Her pelvic opening is barely big enough to get a bowl movement through it and if she ever gets pregnant again, she'd never be able to deliver the kittens. He said that doing a surgery now after the healing that's already taken place would probably do more harm then good. He said that she has no muscle left in that rear leg and probably has major nerve damage done. He stated that she'd probably have to have that leg amputated sometime in the future. If she starts trying to walk on that leg in the twisted condition it's in, she'd be walking on the top part of her foot and that would lead to sores and infection. So, when she starts doing that, it's time to remove the leg. Poor baby but she's a fighter and a survivor. She survived the last 3 weeks after enduring all the pain and suffering alone.

I turned 2 today! I sure have come a long way in my short little life!!!

But, I'm not showing up in the Birthday Stroll. 1000 kitties are featured as having a birthday today but I'm not one of them. Mom even got the birthday stroll email today and I got my 25 treats etc. Mom went thru the stroll twice and didn't see me. She also gave me a treat to see if maybe something got stuck such luck. Mom wanted to see my pretty little face in the birthday stroll. Maybe next year... :(

On the furniture?

Mom got up this morning and came out to the living room to let the dogs out. As she was closing the door, she looked at the furbutts on the love seat. Bella was on the back of it, Simon was on one of the cushions and she noticed someone else on the other cushion. The furbutt had it's back to her so she didn't recognize who it was for a second. Then the furbutt turned it's head towards her and she realized it was ME! I was laying on the loveseat!!! I have never been anywhere but the floor and I'm usually in mom's bedroom. Because of my injured leg, mom didn't think I could jump. She knows I've made a miraculous recovery and am walking and running on my injured leg (the one several vets have said i'd never use again and should have it amputated) but to find me on the loveseat was amazing! Mom had to make sure she got a picture of it as proof! It's not April 1st anymore, so this definitely wasn't a trick! Mom is so proud of me and she says that I'm constantly amazing her! I'm her miracle kitty! See what love, time and patience can do!!!

Mom's got proof

that I come out of my kennel! Mom's been leaving the kennel door open all the time now but she leaves the baby gate to the room closed to keep the dogs out. They like to eat out of the litter box in my kennel and they eat all my food. So, mom keeps the gate closed so they can't do that.

But, see, I do come out of my kennel. Mom posted pics for me to show everyone. I still make a mad dash for it if I think mom might step on me. I'm still skittish but mom is patient. She doesn't push it. She tries to walk up to me slowly but a lot of the time, I still run for the kennel. If mom sits on the floor and motions for me to come, I usually come to her. I love to be pet. I purr and purr and purr. I'm not too keen on the other furbutts getting close to me and I hiss at them once in awhile but I'm getting better about that too.

Things are going pretty good otherwise. Mom put some floor scratchers down for me and a turbo chaser thing with the blinking light ball. I watch the other furbutts mess around with that stuff but I haven't tried any of it yet. Mom wonders if I'll ever get to that stage. I'm a feral kitty and there's no telling how things will turn out. Just have to wait and see. All I know is that I'm living the good life compared to life outdoors. Mom thinks she did the right thing in bringing me in and she has no regrets. She loves me.
