I had another chemo treatment on Monday, and although I was fine for a couple of days, I am now boycotting food again. I go downstairs at mealtime with my fursibs, but when I get there, nothing looks appetizing. Mom tried me on several different cat foods, baby food, salmon, sardines and cream cheese. No dice. So she hauled out the syringe and the A/D and is feeding me by hand again.
Leave A Comment | 7 people already have It might be maybe you're feeling a bit sick to the stomach? The anti nausea medicine I got tasted really bad. Mommy asked someone here and they suggested something that did wonders...and then my appitite came back about 3 days later. I know this might be somewhat off the mark, but maybe some sushi-some raw salmon? I only know that I would have knocked down mom for it the other night. I'm really hoping you feel better, and am sending you many purrs. Sorry you don't feel like eating. That's the pitts! Misha had all kinds of canned cat food too.Sometimes he would eat a little people tuna when nothing else worked. Also, there are these pouches of "Purrfectly fish" by Whiskas cat food.Mum would warm up a few bites on a plate and Misha would eat it because it was stinky. good luck sweetie. You could ask for some ice cream :) It smells utterly disgusting, but a lot of tnr cat trappers swear by canned mackerel. Others have used Kentucky Fried Chicken or rabbit meat. If it is tempting enough for a feral cat to enter a trap, it may be tempting enough for you. When I was less interested in food, sometimes my moms would cook up some red meat for me. The smell of the cooking meat was enticing. A friend said liver is even better, but my moms just couldn't stomach cooking liver. If you really refuse to eat, your mom could also trying squirting some kitten replacement milk down your throat. Lots of calories in kitten replacement milk. And adult kitties like it too. But I do hope you start eating on your own soon. One other thought. If you start eating something, anything then your mom should start sprinkling taurine on it. Hazel Lucy would be the best kitty to discuss this with. But I believe taurine is essential in a kitty's diet. So if you are refusing kitty food but eating something else, then you need to have taurine sprinkled on that other food. Oh honey, you have to eat! Has your Mom tried heating the food a little. That usually makes it smell more so it smells better. Purrs... Thank you all so much for the ideas and good wishes. Mom has tried salmon, tuna and sardines, but not mackerel. She will get some today. She has tried chicken, too, but she is going to get some chicken livers to sauté and see if I might eat that. I am taking medicine for nausea and Pepcid to soothe my tummy, and an appetite stimulant, and Miralax to keep me from being constipated. Too bad those things don't have calories in them! Mom is syringe-feeding me prescription A/D, Nikolai, so I'm getting the taurine I need. Thanks for that thought! The A/D is super stinky. The other cats beg for some, but Mom won't let them have any. It's mine, all mine. When I didn't want to eat anything else, I would usually eat raw chicken liver. Only try a little at a time in case it doesn't agree with you, though. My older sister only wanted eggs at one time (fried, over easy, with runny yolk). Hazel Lucy also suggests aloe vera for nausea. We're purring for you, Onyx. |
