Was very excited this morning, because it was Thanksgiving and I was anticipating some delicious turkey and some gravy and a little oyster dressing and maybe even a lick of whipped cream.

But Mom got up and went to work. Dad went to his sister's house. The house was empty except for us, and the kitchen range was cold -- no delicious smells, no turkey, no nothing.

When Mom and Dad came home, they weren't even carrying any leftovers. We dined on ... sigh ... cat food. OK, it was Merrick's Thanksgiving Day Dinner, but nobody was fooling anybody.

Mom says she'll make it up at Christmas. She'd better.
