Claude's Heart

Hi all, I know it's been a long time since I updated, but Claude is not feeling well. He had to go to the vet after having two seizure-like episodes and a couple weeks of lethargy and poor appetite. Today is Claude Day!

Unbeknownst to the humans, I had been planning to spend today in celebration. I thought they might have a clue that today was my special day, as my mom's mom was giving me extra snuggles and my dad gave me a treat. However, they then disappeared into the outdoors without me, and came back without my mom's mom, whom I will miss... she was a great snuggler. Hopefully she will come visit again.

Then, I was submitted to the torture that is claw trimming. I've been sharpening them well for the past month with no sign of the nasty green clippers that I conveniently hid under the.... wait, better not tell! They returned home with something akin to a guillotine for my claws this time, and held me down and cut them off one by one... the horrors! Then they tried to feed me a chicken and cheese treat, which I normally adore, but I was so offended by the clipping that I refused to let them see me eat the treat. I'll eat it later in private, of course.

They finally figured out that I was the Cat of the Day, and then they gave me my tuna dinner. *humph* Humans... at least they try. They could do a lot better though. And I don't understand their obsession with keeping my claws from getting stuck in their winter "sweaters"... Oh well, poor hairless things have to come up with some way to shield themselves from the cold, I suppose.

I'm the winner in the Playful category!

I am definitely the most playful cat, and this just proves it. Lately I have been rediscovering the joy of opening boxes and tearing apart paper.Christmas is definitely my favorite time of year.... when else can you find real trees inside the house?! My humans got me a treat of cat grass so I wouldn't chew on the tree, but those shiny lightbulbs and jingle bells are just so tempting! I like hiding under there and trying to open presents. I know at least one is for me, because I can smell the catnip!

On a side note, I also learned that the water my human uses to paint with is quite tasty, but she gets quite upset when I try to drink it, especially when I have to walk over her painting to get to it.

Cable Guy

My humans spend a lot of time staring at these big flat colorful screens. They are not as fun for me as looking out windows, as the most interesting thing I've seen on them is a little arrow that moves around like a fly, so I'm not sure what the fuss was all about when they said the cable wasn't working.

Now I understand. It means they have to invite strange people into the house and then go into the basement where I am not allowed to go. That place is great, full of spiders and cobwebs and it's dark and dank and smells of all kinds of good things. I think they pawed at all the wires hanging from the ceiling down there. I wanted to also but I wasn't so sure about strange cable guy, because he didn't let me greet him. Mom says I was good for staying upstairs.

Anyway, it's a sunny day so I think I'll lay on the top of my plushy soft tower in the sunlight while she pokes at the little noisy things in front of her screen for hours. Humans are weird.

Today is my first day on catster. I have been especially lazy today while my female human painted pictures. Her hands are green, which I appreciate. I like little green mice, my green tickler (which I lick thoroughly if I can catch it) and I love eating grass and leaves of any sort, as long as they are green. Okay, I like colorful leaves too, the kind I got into this morning that my human had put up on the cabinet as "decoration." They are much better suited to being crunchies.

On the note of crunchies, I love chicken and cheese treats, and friskies indoor delights, as well as the more exotic edible, the garlic cheddar croutons that I discovered one day. But mom says I can only have one or two at a time because garlic can be dangerous. Surely it's not as dangerous as all that water she runs all the time. That stuff is scary!
