Arrival Story:
I was supposed to foster a totally different cat in the summer of 2001 when I was a volunteer at my local animal shelter. When I went to pick up this other cat to bring home, I was asked to take Comet instead. I'm so glad it worked out that way!

Comet lost his battle with kidney failure at the age of 20 years old. It was one of the worst days of my life, I had no choice but to bring him to his vet to be put to sleep on 3-15-07. I still can't believe he is really gone. It hurts so much to write this. He was on subcutaneous fluids for about 2 years and was doing very well with them. Then in Feb. 07 he just literally crashed out of nowhere one night. He couldn't walk without collapsing. We rushed him to the emergency vet where he stayed overnight on fluids and was back to normal the next morning. I took him that same day for a follow up with his regular vet who told us that his kidney's were very bad and that he would need even more sub-q's at home. Comet held up for another 3 and a half weeks, then suddenly crashed again, this time refusing to eat or drink, even his favorite foods like tuna and milk. I rushed him after work that day to his vet who told me that if he wasn't eating, he probably wasn't going to make it. He told me to take him home and make him comfortable and that if he didn't get any better or start eating on his own, to bring him back in for euthansia. I had no choice, it was the hardest thing I ever had to do to this day, and I absolutely couldn't be in the room when the vet administered the injection, so we kissed him good bye and told him we loved him and the vet took him in the back of the hospital. I still can't believe he's gone. Comet was the greatest cat ever, and I don't think I will ever love another cat the way I loved him. He was there for me through some very rough times in my life and always loved me no matter what. Comet was the best cat I've ever had, and ever will have. In the 5 and a half years that I had this precious shelter rescue, he brought me lots of love and joy just by being with him.

Today marks one year since I went to the Bridge. Although I know my mom misses me terribly, I am so happy and content to be with my new buddies here. No more Sub-q fluids, that's another plus! My mommy wishes I were still on earth with her and my family so I could chill and eat grass outside, but I'm doing that up here tenfold! ha ha

Love to all my pals,
