Tortoiseshell and white
~ any brand of wet food ~ cozy places to sleep ~
~ people paying attention to her ~
~ she doesn't play with any toys that I put out for her, so I'd have to say bugs ~
Favorite Nap Spot:
~ her bed on the chair outback in the summer and her igloo house with warm blankets in the winter ~
~ she's not picky and is grateful for any wet food that we feed her ~
When one of our neighbors put their house up for sale and moved, I suddenly had an old feral tom kitty at my door begging for food. I figured that the neighbor had probably been feeding him and now his kind food source had disappeared. Another neighbor and myself called him Tommy and we started setting out food for him. He was too old to try and do TNR on, so we just fed him and left him be.
Then one night he showed up with two other kitties. They appeared to be teenage kittens, I assumed just abandoned, and now three bowls of food were set out to make sure that they all ate. I fully intended to do TNR on the two younger ones, but one day they just disappeared.
Then Tommy was suddenly hanging out with an emaciated female tortie. Her belly sagged to the ground and my first thought was that she had just had kittens. *sighs* She appeared feral too and finally I gained enough trust with her to get a good look at her belly. She was not a nursing mama, she had obviously been of proper weight at one point and had lost so much weight that her skin sagged. I have a suspicion that this is the same kitty that Tommy brought here with him months before. There were no signs of where her brother was.
Tommy was found deceased by the neighborhood kids this past summer. He appeared to have just died of old age and we had a small burial ceremony for him. This left the female tortie all alone and she took up residence in my backyard. She's gained weight but is still not well enough to undergo TNR. Three or four 'kitten seasons' have passed and she has not had any kittens. *I don't think she can*
She's been acting like a spoiled brat lately -giggles- and scratches at the back slider when she wants something, usually wet food. Sometimes I forget that she is feral and she reminds me by smacking me and drawing blood. All of my cats have finally excepted that she lives in the backyard. Nakita would love to challenge her though, so I keep a close eye on her when she's out back with me............... I helped Mystique cross to the Rainbow Bridge on October 22nd, 2010.

Mom decided it was time for her and me to write a diary entry to express my sincere thanks for my lovely birthday wishes *purrs* and to explain my final days with her. (still not easy for her to do)
It had become impossible for me to eat or drink much because of the extreme pain issues that my mouth had been causing me. I lost so much weight that I had returned to bones, the condition Mom first had found me in over two years prior. No humane cat trap or what Mom thought were clever attempts to capture me worked and I remained suffering in her yard out in the extreme heat.
Then suddenly a new kitty showed up at our back door. Mom thought that she had seen it all while out at Flock trying to help hundreds of super sick, emaciated and dehydrated kitties, but this new Maine Coon kitty she stated “took the cake!” He was horribly ill, on death’s door and although super nice to me, wanted nothing to do with her. He disappeared three nights later, Mom presumed and prayed that he had peacefully passed on.
Next thing Mom knew, I not only was unable to eat but I too now had caught whatever illness that the Maine Coon kitty had. The odds were now completely stacked against me. I finally became so weak that Mom snuck up on me in the middle of the night and scooped me up. She rushed me to Doc Holly’s office the next morning, but it was too late for me and I received the gift of being set free of my painful Earthly body.
To Mom’s surprise I was not a young cat! I was an elderly gal who had been previously spayed and probably got lost or tossed out to fend for myself. Whatever had happened, it was obvious that I did not trust humans any longer. It was discovered that I had horrible teeth issues and I needed a lot of abscessed teeth extracted, however going under anesthesia was not an option for me because of my weakened condition and the illness that I had contracted from the sick Maine Coon kitty. I was so emaciated, sick, and suffering that the kindest thing was to set me free.
Although a loner on Earth, I am quite the social kitty at the Bridge. (grateful winks) Thanks to all who helped to make my Birthday a special one! I’m sporting a special diamond from Sweet Greystone & Family, had a most fantastic time bowling thanks to Sweet Calvin, and the food…. let me tell you those tuna-melt sandwiches, prepared by the Da Tabbies O Trout clan, and the awesome catnip Birthday cake whipped up by Felix (Honey Angel) were the best ever!! *purrs* And who knew that Oreo, Thomas, Brantley, Callie … Fluffy, Alex & Family… Adam, Eve and Family could sing Happy Birthday so beautifully! *many more grateful purrs*
Hugs and Love,

What can I say? I didn’t realize that ‘seeing a doc’ meant being transported in an icky trap and traveling in a scary car! Mom failed to explain that to me. When I realized her intentions were to stick me inside that car, I flipped out, cleverly unlocked the trap’s door and escaped back outside into our yard. Mom was in total shock and just stood there with tears in her eyes.
My, oh my, it’s hot out here! Perhaps I’ll let mom scoop me up again tonight so I can sleep comfortably in her restroom. I liked it in there and even purred this morning when mom came in to check on me. I’m not too trusting about the whole ‘going to see the doc’ thing anymore though. Why does it have to be so frightening? I need to go find a cool place to take a long nap and think about all of this.
Mom’s so worried because I was in her restroom for 12 ½ hours, did not eat or drink what she offered me and did not pee or poo. Now I’m back out in the heat, still hungry & dehydrated.

The lady who I've come to call 'mom' had the nerve to lure me into her house and then grab me, scruff me and place me into a kennel! I was so scared and pleaded with her to let me back outside, but she said that I had to spend the night in her restroom. Actually that wasn't so bad as the restroom was a cool 78 degrees, unlike the sweltering heat I've been trying to endure outdoors.
Several months ago mom started noticing me pawing at my mouth when I tried to eat my wet food she puts out for me. She snuck medicine in my food, but I progressively got worse and started not being able to eat very much. She kept explaining to me that I needed to see a doctor, but I was too afraid to let her capture me. She would sit at the back door every evening and beg me to come inside.
This past week has been averaging 108 degrees, and this past week mom noticed that I stopped completely eating. I also dropped a bunch of weight. Once again mom sat by the back door last night and pleaded for me to come inside. I really have had enough of the pain, hunger and heat so I decided to take her up on her offer. Her grabbing me and placing me in the small restroom was not part of my plan, but I didn't scratch or bite her.
I get to see the doc at 3:30 today. I sure hope he can help me with my mouth issues. I'm so hungry and can't wait to be able to eat a big, yummy bowl of wet food.
Purrs & Love,
*captured at last*
