Yesterday afternoon Mom came to Catster to try to catch up and to buy some zealies so we could send out some gifties. But she looked and it said I had 156 zealies. Hmmm, she thought maybe somecat anonymously gave us some? But then she looked on my page and it said CAT OF THE WEEK! Wow, what a nice surprise! A pawsome surprise.
Hey, I get to be Cat of the Week for my Gotcha Day (my 18th Gotcha Day!) and the 4th of July! I was thinking of decorating my page with some 4th of July stuff, but I’m so annoyed with those humans who are exploding things by our house that I don’t know if I want to decorate my page. For much of last night people were exploding things. It was awful. Apparently there’s a new law that allows for more boomy things to be legal in our state for individuals. I can’t figure out why humans think exploding things and disturbing other people is SO exciting. As if I haven’t had enough stress moving into a new house....Last night it was BOOM, BOOM, crackle, hissss, BOOOOOM! (times a bazillion)
Mom here: We’ve just moved and it’s been stressful. Gumpy has been trying to adjust and then last night seemed to traumatize him as he was getting more comfortable. I might have to take him to my parents this evening, though taking him in a car is also stressful. Sorry for being a bit of a downer about this, although it’s comforting to get the love from being COTW during some of this. :)
Thank you Catster for making me Cat of the Week! Cool that it’s during my Gotcha Day. Thank you to my friends for the kind messages, gifts, photos, etc!
From Mom: Thank you, Catster, for acknowledging my precious little boy who is becoming more and more fragile. You picked the photo that I love. Thank you!
Hey, I’m a little fragile, but I’m still strong. Mom says I’ve always been resilient (knock paws on wood). Thank you everybuddy for celebrating with me!
P.S. We have been absent lately and I’ve been saddened that a number of kitty friends passed on to the Rainbow Bridge recently. I’m sorry to be late learning about these sad events.

Thank you, Mr. Catfather! And father of the Catfather.
Congratulations Gump! I'm sorry things have been stressful for you lately, we are sending purrs!
Congrats on Gumpy Gotch Day coming up! And COTW! And a Late Birfdays!
Love ya Dood! (In a Man-Cat way of course)
Catgratulations Gumpy!!! And Happy 4th of July too.
Moving is one of the most stressful things for a cat because our territory (even indoor) is all moved, scents are different and we just aren't real good with change. Maybe your Mom can create a little hidey space for you, like a little mancave for when you are stressed by the boom booms today.
We hope being honored as COTW brightens your day!!
Z & Z
Judy M is my Mom's mistake above with no message. Sorry about that. Please delete it if you can :)
Hi Tasha! Thanks ~ good to see you!
Timmy T (and all of the boyz), I always luv you doods (in a manly mancat way, of course)! Thank you!
Hi Zack, thanks! That's a good idea to create a little hidey space. I do have a bed that converts to to little cave. I had been wanting to sleep in my litter box, but I'm sort of over that (Mom did take me to the vet to check my urinary system). I just hope it's not too boomy today, but I'm sure it will be. Crazy.
Thank you kitties!
Love ya, G
Zack, I forgot to say that it does brighten our day and week to COTW!
Also meant to say that the bed converts to a little cave (typo...MOM!)
Fleas are not letting me delete that. But no worries.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Congrats Gumpy! How cool that you are COTW on the 4th of July and during your Gotcha Day! I hope those boom booms settle down, we don't like scary noises either. Have a great week!
Double honors for Gumpy! Well deserved, my friend. Enjoy your Gotcha Day and go easy on the hot dogs.
Hi Tully, thanks, buddy!
Hi Jasper! Thank you! No hotdogs, but Mom gave me some corn on the cob to munch on the other day. I'm going to try to post a photo of me with the corn on the cob. I know it's not "species appropriate" or anything, but I love it and Mom occasionally lets my gnaw on it a little. MOL
MOL! Gumpy is a corn-ivore!
CONCATULATIONS GUMP!!! You d'serves bein' COTW. I not efun gonna talk 'bout the stress of moofin'. We all know how that was fur me. MOL

Big concatulations to you, Gumpy!
You are having a truly fine set of days in which to have the privilege of being COTW!
Too bad they don't make kitty earplugs...sigh...we have a lot of neighbors who do their own fireworks, too..and not only do we have to listen to all that noise, we have to listen to all the insane barking of dog-guy cause he too gets way angry at that booming.
And it being so overly dry right here, its dangerous, too, HISS!
Big congrats tew yew Gumpy on yur COTW!
Yoo are so gorgeous & most handsome!
The only big noises ya hear heyah will me my loud purr motor,
Lu vs & kitty whiska kisses =< >=
Yes, Kally, if only we could all be right there to purr him thru it!! So we'll all try to purr you thru it from far away!!
COTW couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!! We really mean it!! We are thrilled to see your smilin' face up there!
If you want to get away from boomies, come to PA. We have laws against them. We still have some, but nothing nearly like what the rest of you have. We are also in a small town, so the cops just drive to where they heard the boom and cite the people. More stupid criminals.
Gump - we want to say how sorry we are about Ollie, your nephew. We know you have a very special relationship, and that you've watched over him. Now he'll be the bright star riding on the rainbow to watch over you.
Say hi to Nadi for us! Luv, Tink & Snow
Concats to you sweet Gumpy, it's great to see you on our main page. Enjoy your week of fame.
Congratulations Gump. I hope the stress goes away.

Beeg CONCATS!! Gumpy! Our Cat of The Week!
Soon as them farwerks started I headed straight under tha bed!
Thank you, all you sweet, sweet kitty friends.
Last night (the 4th of July) wasn't as bad with the boom-booms. Zack gave Mom an idea and she made the little bathroom my little safe spot. She put a mat and a cushy big pillow and a cat bed in there along with water for me. It's also cooler in there and a little less noisy and I felt protected from some of the fireworks and booms. Zack, thanks for giving Mom the idea!
WeeBees, that's right, it's dangerous with all these explosive things since it's been so dry. I do wish there were some sort of kitty ear plugs. I really can't stand how they're allowing all of these things and a lot of people in the state seem to agree. Maybe the law will change again.
But enough about the the booming stuff, it is pretty much over. But I still need to celebrate being COTW! Thanks for your comments and celebrating this week with me.
....Now where is that sweet corn?
We agree about the boom-booms. We like the colors, but hate the noise! Great to see you on the homepage, buddie. Corn, huh? The Mama has let us sniff the corn cob after she scraped off the kernels, but none of us seem interested...except to bat the thing around! They roll pretty good! Hehehe...
I actually like it after it's been eaten and I can gnaw off the tasty corny morsels. I like it when it's boiled and with some butter or something on it. But I would probably eat it raw off the cob too.
Official fireworks displays are cool and Mom enjoys them and the colors are really pawsome. But it's all these neighborhood people that like to explode things and shoot bottle rockets and all kinds of stuff right in your back yard or all around the neighborhood which is so unpleasant and it's 'disturbing the peace'.
Thanks Samhain! Stay cool, girl.
