Playing! Eating! Hunting mousies!
When Pete won't play. Human's who bug her.
Da Bird Toy, Feather toy, red rope, live mousies.
Favorite Nap Spot:
in the window, near Sarah, near Pete, near the human
Fancy Feast canned (not the gravy ones)
hiding, biting, getting the feather toy by pouncing on the handle
indoors and outdoors
Ceci was born with a litter of kittens under j&h printing in Pullman. Fred & Fran asked the Humane Society for help trapping them all but they only caught the mother and let her go because the kittens were too little. The mother moved all the kittens away but left Ceci behind. Ceci lived under the building from 8 weeks to 12 weeks when Fred & Fran told me about her and I saw her peeking out looking for food. They'd stopped feeding her pudding hoping to lure her out more. The Humane Society refused to come trap her once it was realized she'd been left because they decided she was already feral. Although my husband threatened the D-word if I brought home a 4th cat after Bear died, I couldn't leave her there. Fred & Fran called the Humane Society to get the trap, I ran home for real food and carrier and within 2 hours Ceci was trapped. I took her into the tiny bathroom to capture her and transfer her to my carrier. She tried to get away but jumping up, I stupidly stuck out a finger for her to smell (of course she bit me!), but it only took a few minutes (gloved up) to capture her and get her in the carrier. I knew immediately that while she was wild, she was not feral. She did not struggle desperately to get away, she fought but not with everything she had and didn't try to chew her way out of my hands. She sat quietly in the carrier watching us while I finished up my print work then came home "to be tamed".
We had some interesting moments while Ceci learned to handle people and a home. She'd already lived through a snow storm alone so she had her winter fur, but lost it pretty quickly living inside. It was several months before she showed interest in going outside but then she was gung ho about getting out with Pete so I put her on a leash and she learned where she lived that way. She was afraid of me at first, and even now, at 7 months, she's shier, but within two weeks was sleeping on me if she thought I didn't know. I thought I could trust her after about a week and learned that she could hide where I'd never find her. Then I learned that all it took was Da Bird Toy to get her out to play! I moved her into my bedroom instead of an empty room after that to help her get more used to people. She's madly in love with Pete and she thinks Sarah is her mom. Sarah doesn't really like other cats, but Ceci is different and Sarah will let Ceci groom her and sleep touching her. Its very cute! Ceci thinks Pete is a giant orange toy and leaps on him with abandon and drives him nuts. But he likes her, I think. She LOVES to eat and will rub anyone's legs if she thinks they are feeding her. She keeps herself perfectly groomed and its looking like she's a Ticked Torbie. Tabby marks on her legs/face, ticking on the back, black/red feet, black stripe down her back/tail. Her tail is magnificent and her pride and joy. She has ear and feet tufts and is extremely smart. Her purr is too quiet to hear but you can feel it if she's lying on you. She likes to sleep with her paws under her head and drapped over a pillow or chair. She'll use the heated beds, but really prefers the thermal ones, they must be cooler for her. She's a good poser for pictures.

Hi everyone! Pete was updating his diary and I was reading it (you should, too, he was shot!) and we noticed that Pete's last entry was on my second day in my furever home and my last entry wasn't much later than that! Yikes! How can we record every minutia of my life if we don't write in my diary????
This last year has been way exciting! The important things first.... I'm in love with Pete and have been since the first day I met him. Sarah loves me and she's my kitty mom. My human is quite tolerable for a human and if she's home I like to be near her though she can get a bit demanding about petting and snuggling - sheesh! Sid doesn't like me very much but I keep trying. He's quite handsome but not as beautiful as Pete. Sadly my love in unrequited and though Pete will occasionally lick my head (OMG OMG OMG) and I lie completely still hoping he'll lick forever he then hisses at me and pretends he doesn't know me. Sigh. I have learned to admire him calmly and I mostly don't leap upon him every single time I see him now. But I want to - wouldn't you? He's so darned good looking I just die when he's around.
My favorite thing in the world is breakfast. And lunch. And dinner. And snacks. And after breakfast breakfast. You get the picture. Because weight is not a problem for me mom lets me have as much Fancy Feast wet as I want and boy does that make Sarah MAD! All that said, that doesn't mean that I'll come when the human calls me for food. I've got her figured out. I can come whenever I want and all I have to do is rub against her legs and she's opening the magic closet door and pulling out a can. I love that closet! The best toys are there as well and now that I'm locked inside I get to play with them more. Why am I inside? You'd better go read Pete's diary - he was shot with a pellet gun this morning and mom has put a kabosh on the open door policy. I'm whatever, I'm a pretty easy going girl after all. I'd like to go out but if its closed I'm not going be all Sid and scratch at it and try to pry it open. At least not while anyone's looking.
I see that the human hasn't posted any new pictures of me either. Sigh. Luckily I look exactly the same as my profile picture, just a little bigger. The human thinks I'm somewhere around 9 pounds, maybe less. I'm a little girl but oh so pretty! The human has decided that I'm a Dilute Ticked Torbie. Say that 10 times fast. You can see my tortie coloring in my feet - they're all black and orange. Whatever you call it, mom thinks I'm just about the cutest kitten she's ever seen. Pete & Sid are just glad that after 3 years they no longer have to be called The Kittens and its all about me now.
All this writing is exhausting and its time for a nap. The male human just got home from a trip up Mt. Adams and he's left his air mattress on the table. MINE!
Purrs and loves and come check the human out on facebook, she's Jillathena.

Please check out Benson. He's listed as one of my siblings though he's staying at a vet hospital in Lewiston, Idaho. He's a nice kitty that mom & Marion met yesterday. He's been living in a loving home and needs a new one.

So the human was not very bright but finally she peeked under all my fur and started calling me Cecilia instead of Cecil. Whatever. I do like my new name, almost as much as my nicknames, Ceci and Kittah. She's pronouncing it like its Italian after a famous Mezzo Soprano, Cecilia Bartoli, because she's a singer and I'm a singer. I like to sing while I explore things. But only if the human already knows where I am. If she doesn't then I sit like a quiet mouse and watch her freak out. Entertaining!
She brought home special kitten food today. Sid attacked it and ripped a hole in the bag in the living room. I get special Fancy Feast Kitten wet food, too.
I want Sarah to be my mom. Sarah said no. Pete hissed at me and yowled at me with his big giant mouth wide open like a snake. I was scared when mom was trying to catch me and chased Sid out of his bed. I played some more. I slept a lot. I like my belly rubbed. I wish the human would turn on the tv; I like that, too.
