Arrival Story:
I wanted a dog. I was 17 and lived with my aunt who already had 2 big dogs. I had a pet snake but i really wanted a pet that had fur...that would play. I was never much of a cat person, but my aunt worked with a lady who's cat had had kittens. She told me that I could have one if I wanted. I accepted the offer. I waited for 3 weeks until the kittens had been weened. Finally I came home from school and noticed that there was a small bowl of food and water in my room....and just about everything i owned was piled on top of my snake's cage. (compliments of my uncle, who thought that without a doubt my escape artist reptile would make a quick snack of the new kitten) I scanned my room...and the kitten was nowhere to be found. I knew he had to be in there somewhere....so i started moving things. I found him curled up in a ball sleeping behind my dresser. I picked him up and was somewhat disappointed with his overall appearance. This could NOT be the kitten I was promised. The kitten I was expecting was supposed to be fluffy. This cat was short haired.....no fluff at all. His eyes had some kind of gross goop coming from them. He had an eye infection..it was obvious. He was basically the ugliest cat I had ever seen. I thought briefly about tossing him in the snake's cage....(i kid, i kid) then decided to play with him. Well, i say "him" but up until later we thought "he" was actually a "she." Thats what we had been told...and so we named "her" Pheobe. About 2 weeks later....I discovered his testicles and realized for the first time, that Pheobe was actually a "dude." So my aunt jokingly suggested that I change his name to Phebo. I loved it. It was perfect. Phebo is now one of the largest and most beautiful fat house cats I have ever seen. He is my grumpy old cat and I love him dearly.

Bio:
I always receive comments about Phebo's large size. I once had a neighbor tell me that she thought he was a large bag of cement laying on our back porch. Upon seeing Phebo for the first time, people will make comments like, "OMG that is a big @$$ cat!" Phebo does not like other animals....at all. Since I got phebo 6 years ago...I have tried on several occasions to bring other animals into the house, among those, both dogs and cats. He hated every one of them. Sunny is my pekingese...we got her in 2007. She is the only other animal that he took to. He really doesnt care for her either...he simply tolerates her, and on occasion will give her a lick if he thinks nobody is watching. Sometimes I think he likes her...but thats his little secret. haha
