The Baboo Kitty Has Spoken

Light a Candle and Remember Me

Today a cat came to peer in a door
She was so tired, her white paws were sore
She had green eyes, a sad little face
A small soft furred kitty
Who lived in 'no place'
She once had a home, a bed all her own
But now she's a 'stray'
And she's not alone

Today light a candle
Remember me
I was once that shy cat
That each morning you see
Can you pass by, don't you see me at all?
Will I die alone out here
As summer turns to fall?

That little cat,
was sprayed with a hose,
shivering in the cold
she stood by them and rose
As a woman went to kick
Another leapt a fence
Told her 'leave them alone-or you'll be past tense'
The monster dropped the hose, the other knelt down
Soft voiceed and soft eyed,
She lay on the ground
She coaxed and cajoled, she opened a door
Gathering kits into her shirt
The mother cat followed the lure

Today light a candle
Remember those cats
That will die in a 'shelter'
Imagine that
Today can you reach out-do a little more
So a miracle in fur
will make it out of the door

The rag tag mom cat
Found safe haven that night
With her little kits
She saw the first light
Of kindness and love
Her kits were found homes
The little stray cat
She was no longer alone
She became Matriach here,
She's the reason We Are
Her name is Angel Bella
And she was A Star

Today light a candle
Remember me
A cat once alone
Don't you all see
It's up to all Folks,
To go out of their way
You can make a difference
Save a Fur today
For dear Folk friends
The idea isn't strange
If you want it to be different
You must be the change

And so I trot to the altar
Mom lights a candle you see
She can't hear the purr of
'You've remembered me'
But the cat in the picture-Bella by name
Is not really there, she's here just the same
She stands for a moment, close to us all
Remembered always-the first in from the cold
A legend, a hero
A cat that was bold

So light a candle-remember me
Save me from death row
From across eternity
Folks be the hero-how often the chance?
To scoop up and rescue-
and change circumstance!

And I turn and I purr
and I send out might light
To join with those candles
And light up-tonight.

You're a wonderful soul, Orange Ruffy. We remember all the kitties who are in need of homes, and we'll light a candle tonight!
