Mommy saw her on the 'to be destroyed' list last night at CACC. Mommy emailed the rescue she worked with, then called them this morning. Janet spent 3 hours trying to pull Babydoll. She had a 'New Hope' rating-she had just come in but was deemed 'unadoptable' to all but rescue because she had been growling and striking out.
You might ask why? Well, she was turned into CACC because after 11 years her 'owner' had bought new furniture.
Babydoll was 13 years old. Her 'family' had her 11 years.

WHY?

Oh, there are times I must question the wisdom of the universe. As I sit here and I touch my paw to the window and I send up a prayer, a purr and breathe in deeply....for I must, simply Be.

I am Cat.

So is Babydoll.

Mommy is in tears. She feels terrible, and guilty. She said that she should have called more than her rescue, emailed more of them. And because she didn't, Babydoll didn't make it out of that place alive.

and Mommy thinks of our Natalie, at the vets now, who was in a case, though in no danger of being killed when she was found by mommy and daddy, but who would probably have died in a cage, for her breast cancer was not being treated.

And Natalie made it out.

So what is the Wisdom of the Universe? That one very frightened and needy and 'aggressive' cat did not make it out alive...

And another cat, fortunate in her own way to be given more time, though not care, in a place where she did not die, as in a concentration camp, for the next group....for the space.

And as Mommy cries into the back of my neck...I do all a cat can in this situation.

I purr. For Mommy. For Babydoll. For all of us.

And I ask Angel Alex to wait at that place, and welcome this new Cat, and tell me, Alex, in your wisdom, in your love....

Why?

Very sad River purrs Ruffy... I'm so sorry to read this, but don't let your mommy feel guilty, she did all she could. You can only do so much, even if she called every shelter in the area, it might not have worked out. We can only do what we do, no matter how hard we try, we can't save them all. It's so sad and heartbreaking, but don't let it break your mommy. She has so much more good she can do for the kitties, and you know she'll do good in the future. Don't let her break Ruffy, give her a headbonk of lovies from me, an FIV positive poofy cheek who was rescued off the streets bleeding and scared by someone like your mommy who brought me to a rescue shelter that took care of me and loved me until my mommy and daddy walked in the doors and took me to my forever home. You've got to focus on the good you can do, on the ones you save, don't be broken by the ones you can't. It wasn't your mommy's failure, it was society's.

Ruffy, daddy agrees...if anyone sees his fb page..they see cats...big cats, small cats, young, old, good health and bad...just cats. all up for adoption.

Oh we are so sad. The gall of that human creature to tell the shelter: well, I can't keep the cat. I got new furniture you know. Don't want the cat ruining it. or something like that.

How cruel and heartless and unfeeling and inhumane. Just throwing away one of your fellow creatures. Doesn't fit into the live style. Now our Mom is in tears too.
It wasn't your Mom's fault. It was the evil human's fault.
Saying a prayer for Babydoll.

A disposable society is what we have become, so sad. Something doesn't work, get rid of it. Car doesn't work? Junk it. Marriage not working out? Try another one. New furniture? Get rid of your pets. I hope this family doesn't have children, they may feel the need to get rid of them if they mess anything up too! Ruffy, don't let your Mom beat herself up over this. She tried to help and she does so much others, she has saved countless lives and added many quality years for others too.

We offer our purrs for Babydoll and so many others faced with bleak outcomes. And purr some comfort for your Mom too, the world can be such a cruel place. Hugs and purrs, Skylar

ooohh prayers going up from us too why are some humans so mean? I don't get it I wonder if they do the same thing to a child or an aging parent??? poor Babydoll
