My Vet visit today with Nice New Sunday Vet

Hi everyone,
As you know, Mom and Dad have been worried about me. I have been losing weight, despite eating, though at times I'm fussy.
Well, they made an appointment for me today, as mom was concerned that I did not look too well.
Well, the nice vet that saw Natalie this week saw me. She made a fuss over me, as vets always do, though I, as Gumpy would say 'gave her lip'. She laughed and said to Daddy that so long as I had spirit I was a fighter, and that was good. She told Daddy I was dehydrated and to increase my fluids to 100mg a day. She gave them to me today, though i had some at 2am when Daddy came home.
Then she told Mommy that she wanted to run bloods, because she wanted to see how my kidneys were doing and what changes there were. Mommy said yes, though she asked what could be done if they were worse and the vet looked sad and shook her head. 'You're doing all you can do.' she said. She told Mommy that Mommy and Daddy were goood pawrents, and that as we kitties get 'up there' some of us have 'stuff' that is treated with preventative care, and Mommy was doing that. She said that KD was good for me, but few cats 'like that stuff' and she wasn't as concenred with me eating that sort of food as with me eating.
I got my nails cut too. I have 'old ladycat nails' that grow into little curved things and make it hard for mom to cut them properly, so she did. They also took pee. I don't know why-they like blood and pee there I guess.
I'm now resting by the window-my favorite spot. I had a treat of some fussiecat tuna and prawns in aspci and now am laying down. It's good to be home.

love to all.

Always purring for you Bella. I could have told you it was more important to eat anything at all then to be fussy and not eat the K/D. Food is so important! I'm glad you liked this vet sweetie.

Purrs and hugs from all of us we know so well how hard it is to get so old and watch mom and dad try to make us ok... it is hard on them but as OR says we are cat and we do not fear the next steps in life, I never did care for that vet place.
Love you sweet girl.

I am always purring and praying for you my sweet Bella and yes it is more important to eat no matter what you eat. My furblings like Fussie Cat...I never got to try it I am sure it is good if you are eating it.

Keep on fighting and feel better...sending angel hugs and love with a special butterfly for you to watch while you look out the window.

Hi Bella, glad to hear the vet visit went well and you like that Sunday vet! Mom won't feed me that K/D food; it's got glucose in it and other funny stuff and fillers. I was diabetic and can't handle glucose in my food! Mom does feed me some Purina NF canned kidney food along with some other 'regular' lower phosphorus canned foods. She thinks the Purina NF one is better because it has less junky stuff and a little more protein. I tend not to be a picky guy, so that helps. Has your mom looked at this food chart from

It's a helpful list that has the phosphorus content and other info about canned food. Eating lower phosphorus food is helpful to us CKD kitties because if our phosphorus becomes too high we don't feel well and it may make the disease worse. Just wanted to share that in case your mommy wasn't aware of the food chart and site which we've found very helpful.

But as the vet said, the most important thing is that you're eating and getting nutrients! You do have such good pawrents. They give you so much love and do everything they can for all of you.

Always purring for you, sweet girl...

~ Gumpy

P.S. Good job on giving the Sunday vet some lip!!
