Arrival Story:
On Oct. 20, 2009, only a week after adopting Stevie, I was driving home from work. It was already dark, and about two houses up from ours, my headlights caught two tiny shapes at the edge of the woods. KITTENS!
Of course, I stopped.
These tiny little golden tabbies were playing in the dark. They were so trusting and allowed me to scoop them up. We have coyotes, owls, hawks, and dogs, of course, in the area, so I doubt they would have survived the night. Who would throw out such gorgeous, helpless babies????
My first cat when I was only 4-5 years old was a golden tabby named Fluffy and I've always loved this coloration. So I was immediately smitten with these golden boys.
We didn't need more cats!! I knew my husband would fall in love with them, and he did. (It also helped that I let him name them for his favorite comic characters! Usually I name the cats, but hey - whatever works!)

Friends of the Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind.
We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties.
Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.

Our Meowmy asked us to write a diary entry today for a very special cause!
We have two brofurs who are blind and one sisfur who is visually impaired. Our angel sisfur, Scarlett, was blind while she was on Earth.
Did you know that even 'no-kill' shelters sometimes euthanize blind cats because they are considered 'unadoptable'?
Did you realize that a blind, black blind cat - like our Bones and Charcoal - stands virtually no hope of adoption?
That cats can become blind due to birth defects, trauma, untreated disease, and yes, even human cruelty?
BUT...
Did you also know that blind cats love to climb??
That they love to play with cat toys??
That they run and jump and enjoy life JUST LIKE OTHER CATS?
AND...
Did you know that there's a very special place for blind cats? A place where they are treated with love, respect, and care? It's TRUE!

So many of you have supported Meowmy, Mama Terry and their friends' quest to find Justice for Eve, the sweet kitten who died shortly after being adopted from Okefenokee Humane Society in Waycross, GA. You can read all about Eve on her Catster page:

We asked Meowmy to update you on a positive development!! A man from the GA Department of Agriculture answered Meowmy's (third) email to that office! He asked for Eve's medical records, saying they were necessary for an inquiry to proceed. Of course, Meowmy sent them right away. So it looks like someone has noticed us!! PURRRRRR!!!
This may take time. (Has the government ever moved quickly??) We promise to keep you updated when we have news.
For all who care about Eve, please take a moment and sign her petition, if you haven't already. It's never to late to take a stand for all the animals still at Okefenokee HS. Thank you for caring so much!!!!

Here we go!!!
1. We were abandoned in Meowmy's neighborhood when we were just five weeks old!! This was bad, but it was also good 'cause our REAL Meowmy found us!
2. Even though we's brofurs, we's very different. Calvin is outgoing and boisterous. Hobbes is quieter and shy. Calvin has long hair and Hobbes is a short hair kit.
3. Our favorite treat is Fancy Feast Appetizers!! The fish and shrimp is heavenly!!!
