The Story of ME!

Catchin' up

Wow, it's been a while. My new digs are great. These people I own do the strangest things, but then all my little kitty friends say the same thing about their people.
I like this new place we live in, it's not as hot as the old place. We stopped in a lot of strange places on the way out here, but I really loved riding in the car. They wouldn't let me pounce on all the stuff whizzing by outside the windows, though. Silly people.
I don't know what these humans would do without me. I keep them on track every day, and make sure they don't forget anything important. In the morning, it's my job to wake them all up. I start with the big ones that share a room, walking on them and meowing to let them know it's 6am! Sometimes it takes a while to get them moving. Then we go to the boy's room and when the humans open his door I go in and wake him up. Sometimes I have to bite his hair to get him to listen to me.
After that, it's into my little girl's room. She's fiesty in the mornings, so I have to watch out for her feet when I pounce on her. I sit on her chest and lick her until she gets out of bed.
Unfortunately, a couple times per week they refuse to listen to me! For some reason, no matter how hard I try they will NOT get up. I can't believe they don't get in trouble with the other people out there, because they sleep waaaayyy too long. Sometimes, they sleep so long that *I* get sleepy just watching them. Then, I have to lay down and rest, and sometimes...I just...start...t.o...faaa..llll...asleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. ...zzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm so confused! There's something big going on around here, and I am not sure what it is.

There are all these strange humans tromping through my home, and they are STEALING OUR STUFF! Why isn't mom stopping them?? She's just standing there watching while they take our things right out the door.

I tried to get out the door to stop them, tried to get out there and chase them down and make them bring back our stuff. All I got for my effort was put in the bedroom where I can't monitor what's going on anymore. Why??

To add insult to injury, one of the evil beings around here took all my favorite toys and blankies and put them in a box - then he stole those too! I would have shared if he would have asked.

I heard mom and dad talking about this Ka lee fourn ya. I'm not sure what it is, but they said they hope I don't get carsick on the drive. Something about six days in the car? Weirdos. We'd make it in five if they'd let me drive. Maybe then we could catch those guys who took all our stuff. I'm big now, and plenty strong. I'm sure I can take one of them down.

In any case, I really think everyone's losing their minds. How are we supposed to sleep around here with no beds to lay on? I mean, mom and dad can sleep on the floor, but what about ME?? I certainly can't be expected to rough it! My fur might get dirty. For shame. This ka lee fourn ya better have beds. And mice. And good treats. Or I'm not going.

This is so unfair! Someone new is here, and he's taking stuff apart, and no one will let me SEE! I tried to get in there and help him fix that heater, but I got locked in the bedroom for my trouble.

They just don't appreciate me around here...that's why the heater keeps breaking - because they won't let ME fix it. I'm helpful, I really really am. I know just exactly where every piece goes, and I always make sure there are one or two pieces left over to play with. What could be better than that? This guy doesn't know what he's doing, I'm sure of it! I've got to figure out how to get out of this bedroom so I can supervise....

I've tried meowing the door down, that didn't work. I've tried climbing the blinds, but mom just opened them so I can't reach them anymore. Now I'm down to sticking my arm under the door in hopes of reaching that door knob, but I'm afraid my arms are too short!

Whatever. I guess when it breaks again, they'll ask for my help. Maybe I'll be the best kitty heater repair girl in the world. I can hear Hollywood calling now - they want to make a movie out of my fabulous story! They'll send a long car with plenty of carpet to scratch, and someone to feed me treats. I'll be fa-mouse! I'll have my paw print in concrete, and they'll have to hire five other cats to help do my paw-tograph since so many people will want it. Hmm...I better go lick my fur so I'm purrrfect when that call comes in. Hey, why am I sitting here with my arm stuck under this door?

Christmas

For some reason the people at my house have dragged a large tree inside. It smells good, and the branches are fun to play with. But Maaaannnn are these people weird! Everyone knows that trees belong outside~

I helped them hang strings of lights on the tree, and funny colored things that shone so much I could see my reflection in them. It was fun until mom corralled me under the tree with a stupid bow on my neck for pictures. I stalked off after that to my perch on the wall.

A few days after this strange series of events, I awoke to find the tree almost buried in paper and ribbons! Ohhh this is kitty heaven! So much to pounce on, so little time....When the people got up, they started tearing the paper. For some reason, they seemed so fascinated with what was inside the paper. Appparently they don't know that the paper is the fun part! Oh well...we can't all be the intelligent species, eh?

The best part of the day was the funny sock filled with kitty treats. It was hanging way up high above the fireplace where I couldn't reach it, only smell it. I tried Eeeeverything to get up there, but no dice! Finally mom handed it down to me, and I got a chance to dig in. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to get the treats out, but I finally grabbed the sock by the end and dragged it backwards until I got what I was after. A whole pile of treats, and they are all mine!

Unfortunately, dad dragged the tree out of the house a few days later, but it sure was fun while it lasted. I never did get to climb the tree, as a weird squirt of water always hit me if I tried, but playing with the branches sure was fun! I can't wait to see what these silly people come up with next!
