Hi there kitties,
I hope you all had a great holiday season, man it was a long one wasn't it? Parents were so busy I didn't have much of a chance to log in again but now it's over and I can breathe again.
Well, I ended the holidays on a very low note. My crystals came back. I spent the evening of the 30th running in and out of my box without being able to do anything, a few hours later I started crying and crying, mommy came and watched me and she started to get very nervous. She called her vet but they were closed for the evening and only going to be open for a very few hours on New Year's Eve before closing all day New Year's Day. They gave her an emergency hotline to call but no one called back from that and instead gave her another number to call. By this point mommy was very nervous and trying to decide what to do with me, daddy was pacing the house because he defers all River health decisions to mommy (mommies know best!) She called the third number and it was an emergency vet clinic my vet contracts with. Mommy decided I'm more important than the bill so into the carrier I went.
It was a bit of a drive into Sacramento, she kept letting me pop my head up to watch the traffic around us go by, it was so dark, I tried to climb into mommy (No really, I wanted to be INSIDE her for the safety!) We finally got there and luckily things went very smoothly.
The place was very clean and neat, there were only a few other patients at the time so we got right in. The vet who saw me was a nice guy, he explained everything to mommy and treated me super nice. He said that luckily I wasn't blocked. Phew! But that I was 100% empty and straining. They gave me some pain killers and medication along with some new medicated nom noms and sent me home. Mommy kept raving about how fast and cheap it was (I thought I was priceless?) and she was very grateful to them for not emptying her wallet and sucking up her whole evening so she could get home and snuggle my brains out! (Oh mommy... come on... the guys are going to read this!)
Anyways, it's been a week and I'm doing pretty well. Yesterday I threw all of mommy's magnets on the fridge onto the floor, yowled for cat treats (I'm HUNGRY!!! and SICK of veterinary food!!!) and then I jumped onto her desk, found her pile of paperwork and bills, and made myself a nest to sleep in. This one seemed to annoy her the most which is weird because I was RIGHT THERE next to her, she should feel flattered I want to be with her right? I guess she decided that means I'm doing pretty well because the lethargic crying baby is gone, now time for the zooming yowling baby to emerge! Hehehe! MEEEEERRROOOWWWW! (I'm trying to learn how to Mrat like sister but it's an art-form and I haven't mastered it yet!)
Anyways, how was your holiday season kitties? I hope it went a little smoother than mine, no emergency vet trips for anyone else right?

We got your card. Thank you! We're glad the holidays are over too. They ended on a sad note when someone bit Jo-Jo on her backside so bad she had to visit the vet. Daddy decided she needed a new home after that. As luck would have it, the vet knew someone who was looking for an adult female kitty like Jo-Jo and since she was Catster cat of the day it was easy to find her page. The vet made a hardcopy and gave it to the lady. She fell in love with Jo-Jo and Daddy took her to her new home yesterday.
It's for the best. Now Jo-Jo will be the only kitty in the house and get all the attention of her person. He already sees a change in us for the better. Dad is still sad he had to rehome Jo-Jo but sometimes the best of intentions aren't good enough and she's in a better situation now.
I'm so sorry to hear that you went through this but happy that Jo Jo has found a new home that sounds like it might be a wonderful new change for her. You did the right thing even if it was hard, that's the way life goes sometimes. I hope you all have a happy new year now.
We got your card also. Thank mew so much. No vet trips here, know on wood. Just nice quiet time with Mom. We got gifts from Santa that were recycled I think. They looked so familiar. Like I've seen them before a year ago or so. I didn't know that Santa was into recycling.
Sorry that you had to endure a trip to the vet. That is not a good way to end the year. Thank catness that you're better. 2014 is gonna be much better for you. I think bills are excellent material to nest in. Just be glad that sister Mietzi doesn't live in your house. She likes to rip little pieces out of paper.
Eat your medicine food. It's good for you. I get almost no bon bons now because I was blocked twice years ago.
Thank catness you are feeling much better River..... geesh you are the CEO we can't have anything happening to you...... I am glad the holidays are over but must admit I did get spoiled again MOL
Yeah for feeling better, River!
Good thing your mommie was right on to it befur you got really sick & blocked.
Want some snow?? We got more than plenty...over a foot already and its not done yet. UGH!
Now the deep freezer is getting ready to hit all of us here, and many others already are in that super-duper cold zone.
Take care, Happy 2014 and happy snuggles!
I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. Having urine issues is no fun, no fun at all!! Glad the trip wasn't too expensive, mom knows all about emerg costs... No fun.
I am glad you were empty and all you needed was some medicine. We had a quiet Christmas and new years. Mom and Pop went to their daughter's for Christmas. So no visitruders!
Did you get enough snuggles? Worried moms are good for extra snuggles and treats :)
I have gotten SO MANY SNUGGLES I don't even know what to do with them all, that mommy of mine, man, she just loves me to pieces! What can I say? I'm spoiled but I have to pay the price in lovies, especially when I scare her by getting sick!
Glad you weren't blocked - we've been though that with Maurice and it is scary! Our holidays were pretty good - the humans (well, all except my daddy) got the flu, but they're recovering.
So sorry that the crystal chick paid you a visit, River. Mommy went through that with Sammy and it sure wasn't any fun:( The holidays were good for our pawrents, but we had many visitruders in our house, so that part wasn't good for us cats. I'm glad the holidays are over so we can have our quiet house back. Happy New Year Buddy!
Thank catness you've recovered! We had a quiet holiday season; we did get one great present - mom quit her job so now she's home with us all the time!
Sorry to hear that those dang crystals came back. Luckily, no vet visits for us over the holidays!
Thank you for the card!
So sorry to hear about you having an emergency situation too, River! I'm so glad you're feeling better! No more sickies!!!
New Year....no health issues!
