barfs are so unladylike

Hello kitties,

I have always had a very tender tummy. Mommy and the vet lady suspect is has something to do with the over-breeding that I suffered before I cam here. I often eat nom noms very fast because I get worried about them disappearing and going hungry like when I was on the streets and then I can't handle it and I barfs up all my dinner all over the floor. Last night I was in bed with mommy at 4am and I went to get a snack. When I came back to bed I crawled back under the covers with her and all that jumping up onto their high bed had shaken up my tummy and I got sick. Mommy woke up to me heaving and losing all my nom noms. She was very worried about me until she saw the food was pretty much whole and I clearly had just snacked. She worries about me though.

Do any of you kitties have tender tummies too? Other than that I'm in pretty good healthy, it's just a constant problem for me. I'd appreciate any advice from kitties to keep nomies in my tummies. Every since the calming collar I have been doing better. I get less stressed and panic less so therefore I run less after eating out of panic and fear. I'd still love to be able to stop my sudden barfs. Mommy doesn't like being woken up at 4am to me losing my tummy all over her. Poor mommy. Luckily she takes good care of me and wasn't mad at me, just very tired!

Maybe your mom could feed you smaller meals throughout the day?

Monida beat me to it. I was gonna suggest smaller meals. When I eats tooo much at one time, I barfs. So, Jen feeds me smaller meals throughout the day and VIOLA, no barfs.

HAVE YOU TRIED PURINIA VETERANARY DIETS EN GASTROENTERIC .
OUR SISFUR ZELDA HAD IT WHEN SHE ATE THE PIECE OF SISEL ROPE AND HAD TO STAY AT VETS A FEW DAYS. HER TUMMY WAS VERY IRRITATED FROM THAT DISEASTER! IT IS A PRECRIPION DIET, SO YOU WOULD NEED TO GET IT FROM THE VETS. NOW WHEN ANY ONE IN THE FAMILY HAS A BAD TUMMY WE GET THIS.
HOPE YOU FEELS BETTERS SOON.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

I do barfing like that, too, sometimes...but usually for the same reason as you described. Meowmy tries not to fuss over it, unless I do it a lot, which is hardly ever...funny thing, though, after I do that barfing, she sees me right back at the food dish! MOL!

Yup, they're right. Smaller, more frequent meals. What we do with cousin Midnight is divide the can into quarters and feed her in 20-30 minute intervals. That way she doesn't woof it down and spew it back up. She just did that this morning with a Wellness pouch but that's because it's the first time she's tried it and she liked it so much, even though it was only a little bit, it heaved back up. Maybe your mom could also add a little extra water in your food to help it go down better. You will have to be careful with this the rest of your life Moe Moe. Sensitive tummies don't usually go away. Now I know your mommy feeds you the good stuff for food so I'm not worried about that. I'm wondering if you might have GERD or acid reflux at all.

I sure hope you get a handle on this, I still have major barfs and it's just plain awful. I'm purring for you. Glad the Calming Collar is a help!

I have a tender tummy too. I barf alot. I always have. My mommy calls me barfs alot. My mommy keeps track of my weight and of course my behavior. If you aren't losing any weight and no other symptoms then you're probally okay. Is there certain flavors that make you barf more than others? Maybe she can see what flavors make your tummy not so upset.

Tutti that's just not true sweetie. All of that barfing can lead to erosion of the esophagus and do some damage. You can develop scar tissue which can close up the airways, all kinds of things. A vet teacher from one of the leading vet schools told me it's NEVER normal for a kitty to barf more than a couple of times a month! There's always an underlying reason for it, whether it's diet, too much hair, an allergy, illness, etc. It should be looked at further to avoid future problems.

Oh Simone, I know how you feel! I just hate barfing too! Lucky for me its only an occasional hair ball. I'm so sorry you have a tender tummy.
My angel brofur used to gorge himself and then would blech it all up. So mom had to feed him smaller portions. They also now have bowls designed to help you slow down when you're eating. I think they originally made them for doggies so they wouldn't bloat, but they have them for cats too! They have raised middles or bumps in them that you have to eat around and that causes you to slow down.
I hopes your tummy feels better!!!

Maybe you need smaller more frequent meals. I used to eat too much at once and barf some too, but with smaller meals I've pretty much stopped that.

Nope, forget it Sparky! You're outta here. MOL! Of course not silly. I just looked at that bowl and it's only for dry food though. I don't know that it would work with wet. Bee too hard for her to get her nosey in there.

I'm guilty of this some times. Sometimes I just eat too fast.

Sometimes, I have this trouble, too... I don't eat fast. Food is available to me through out the day...Sometimes, I don't break the kibbles up with my toophers. Sometimes, I think, I play to hard with Mazy, after I have been snacking.... Instead of a napping session. BTW- pals, I do not weight 9 lbs. Funny, hun? Gma made my page....9 was the biggest number it would except. What a lie! I'm 13 lbs. at least. Meows,Precious

Ah my dear...and a lovely creature like you! I do hope you're not anorexic! I have heard tell....but then that is humans, I remember.

I, also, have a tender tummy. I can't eat anything except chicken and turkey, usually in Fancy Feast. I get smaller meals throught the day becaues of just what you have happen.

I would suggest foods that are easy on the tummy....chicken and turkey were suggested to my mommy. Easier for us to digest, supposedly.

many purrs to you...

I have tummy troubles too! Usually I do fine with dry food, but if I wait too long to eat it my tummy gets upset from hunger, and I throw it up. I even throw up water if my tummy is too hungry, and if I still don't get canned food after that I throw up bile. It's not mom's fault, though, because she's willing to feed me anytime, but I refuse to eat until I get all my playtime, 'cause I'm afraid that after I eat mom will stop paying attention to me. (Note from Mom: I only stop long enough to get a bowl of cereal for myself, but attention resumes soon afterward.)
So I know about tummy troubles!
