Arrival Story:
I was not looking for a new kitty. I was especially not looking for a new kitty two weeks before I went out of the country for three weeks. We wouldn't have even met kitty if our plans to go to LA hadn't gotten canceled. Friends of ours had recently moved into a new house, and we went to their housewarming party. Before I even made it inside I was greeted by a small, scruffy, skinny, kitty with a rash on her head. This kitty REALLY wanted attention. I offered her food but she wanted me to pet her before she ate. I was told this kitty was a stray male kitten of indeterminate age, and that he was always trying to get in their house and make friends. I was strongly encouraged to grab kitty and take him home. My hubbyand I went home without kitty, but I kept thinking about him. About a week and a half later Hubby and I decided to go pick him up and add him to the family if he tested negative for the two contagious feline viruses. I was pretty nervous as we headed to the vet, and I was completely unprepared for what the vet told us. I knew calico cats are almost exclusively female, but I didn't realize tortoiseshell cats are also usually female. Now when we went to pick up the kitty she was hanging around on someone's porch and came running when we called. I put some food in the carrier she stuck her head in and I shoved her in and shut the door. I never actually picked her up so when the vet pulled her out of the carrier and we saw her shaved stomach it was a bit of a shock. Not only did we have a girl cat we had a girl cat someone else had just gotten spayed. We thought we had committed catnapping! Our friends asked their neighbors, and hubby went back to their neighborhood and posted signs. Fortunately for us we hadn't catnapped the kitten. She didn't have a home. A sweet woman in the neighborhood got her spayed and her first round of shots, but wasn't able to keep her. Pib has made herself quite happily at home with us. For a kitty who grew on on the mean streets and has the broken fang and spot in her eye to prove it she is ridiculously people friendly.

I am pleased to report I have no itchies! My fur is long and shiny, and I have filled out nicely. *mom - she's getting a wee bit plumpish, actually*

The itchies

I have the itchies, and they are no fun. What's even less fun is having to go to the V-E-T because of it. When I was living on the streets I had these nasty scabs on my head, and I was always itching them. After some antibiotics and being flea treated they went away, but while the parents were out of town I got fleas again. Yesterday the V-E-T did say it could be a food allergy instead of a flea allergy. I got a hydrocortisone shot and antibiotics. If the antibiotics don't work we'll look at food allergies.

I am a almost 7 months old (I think), gorgeous (I know) tortie kitty who has found a home. My goal in life has been to find a home, and I haven't been picky. If you left your car door open I jumped in. If you wanted a breeze through the house and left a door open I was in. I really like this one house. They had a grill and made really nice smells, but none of them like kitties. They called me Gangrene and wouldn't pet me. :*( It wasn't my fault I was scruffy with scabs on my head.

One day they had a big party with lots of nice food smells. Being a skinny little hungry kitty I was interested. Being a love and attention starved kitty I was really excited when all these people started arriving. People didn't really want to touch me though because they thought I looked so icky. This one lady not only petted me but she sent her husband to the car to bring me kitty food. I was SO hungry, but I still wanted her to pet me more than I wanted to eat. I was really, really, really hoping the lady would take me home with her, but once I started eating she left, and when the party was over I was still there and she was gone.

I held out hope she would come back, but after a week and a half I had all but given up and then the lady came back! She popped my in a carrier and after some interesting times at the vet (see my bio) I went home with her and her husband and I've been here ever since. JOY!!!
