We haven't written for a while because our life lately has been uneventful, it's just been full of eating.. sleeping.. fighting.. then eating, sleeping & playing, then repeat, but today.. alas, I go back to see Dr Frankenvet. Last time I went to see her, my humans told her I was throwing up after I ate. The vet nicely said, then I think we should keep her on wet food. But now I'm doing it on wet food. I think it's because I eat too quickly... I don't take the time to savour my food like Jazz does, because if I eat mine fast enough, I can push her out of the way and eat hers too... Now though I have to pay tie piper... all for the sake of keeping this girlish model-like figure.. eat.. purge.. eat purge.. They don't call Abysinnians the runway models of the cat world for nothing :)

I have written before about the planning and execution of the perfect escape, but there are times, when there is no planning needed what so ever..
This happened yesterday. We were yet again at Birch Bay, like most weekends, and mom had to go out to the shed for something. When she went out the door, she didn't latch it closed tight. Jazz, like usual, wondered where she went and started crying and leaned against the door. It opened wide. Now I was having a snack when I saw the striped tail head down the steps and was off. Now me, being the good big sister, headed out after her (only to protect her of course) and as we ran out of the yard, we could hear dad saying, 'get back here' Yeah right... In his dreams!
We headed right away over to 'Grandma Bunny's' house. Grandma Bunny is new in the neighbourhood. She wants a pet, but her new husband says they are too old. I don't know what age has to do with it, they got married so why not start a family. She is 87 and he is a grumpy 93. She loves us. Him.. not so much... She gives us treats, invites us in. She calls mom, "Honey" and dad, "Dear". We are so lucky to have her!
At this time of year though Grandma Bunny doesn't like to stay at the beach. It's too windy, wet and cold. When we went over yesterday to visit, she wasn't home and it looks like she is gone for the winter, but she still had us in her thoughts. We could tell!
She had moved the patio table in the corner against the house & shed. Like steps! So up we went.. onto the table, the roof of the shed and finally the roof of the house! It was so much fun up there, we were close to birds, we could see the world of water, and the evil beach! We ran back and forth, we played tag, we chattered at birds... we laughed at mom and dad on the ground looking up at us because they couldn't catch us. Not even ham could make us come down. We were free! Nothing could make us come home. We were going to spend the rest of our lives on Grandma Bunny's roof.
Then.... BANG!!! CRACKLE!!! FIZZ!!! .... it was a race to get home...
The moral of the story is... Never tease your parents with not coming home... because if you do.. Mother Nature is on their side, and shows her displeasure with Thunder and Lightning!

Last night dad went out to curl. Some silly human sport, where they throw big pucks on frozen water, and try to get a bulls eye. That is ok though, because it gives us girls night in with mom! We kept her company while she had a bath, Jazz sitting on the edge of the tub, playing with the bubbles and me watching the two of them act silly.
After the bath and a relaxing night in front of the fire, Mom and I went to bed, leaving Jazz downstairs to wait for dad. She's such a suck up. When he got home, it was late but he sat up to watch the news on tv, and that is when the intruder came into the yard. Jazz saw him!! He wasn't sneaky enough to hide from Jazz and she ran to the window! Darn, she wasn't close enough, so into the kitchen and to the french door.. Nope can't see him... back to the livingroom window! Back and forth! back and forth! She knew she had to protect the family! It was her duty!
Dad got concerned as to what was in the yard. What could have Jazz so upset? So he turned around, nose to the window in the dark, and there it was! Nose to nose with dad! Bandit eyes looking back at him! He was a really big raccoon too, his was standing about 3 feet high for his nose to be that close to dads! Jazz ran back to the kitchen... She gave dad a look that said 'if you let me out, I will scare him! I can take him! He's not so tough' But dad reminded her... A: you are not allowed outside without your leash & harness and B: he was very mean and very strong.. and C: last time he was here, when I escaped.. I ended up at Dr Frankenvets, with a cone on my head...
It's sure a good thing that glass window kept them apart. Just because the raccoon has the same tail as Jazz doesn't mean he's our friend.

We had a fun weekend! We went back down to Birch Bay! Friday was very very windy and rained really hard. Mom said, it's a good thing we didn't end up in Oz overnight, but Saturday was really nice.
Mom took me for a walk. It was nice outside in the sunshine. We would walk a little way, and then I'd lay down in the gutter and roll, then mom would come back and rub my belly, and then we'd walk a bit further and I found a storm grate! It was full of water from the night before.. I had to check that out, and then we got to see leaves and helicopters falling from the maple trees.. it was just an interesting walk!
Dad took Jazz for a jog around the block. I like the relaxing stroll better but Jazz enjoyed the jog. (He was just trying to tire her out so she's sleep all night. I overheard him say that to mom) They almost made it right around the block when the lady down the road came out of the driveway with Cindy, the beast that barks. That stopped Jazz in her tracks, and she headed home at a dead run. She could have beaten Olympic records with that run! I don't know what the big deal is though.. She was safe with dad! There is no way, he'd let the mop with the leash hurt her!
Silly girl.
PS.. we got the rest of our steak...

We are in the doghouse today. It is not a happy cat household. Mom left an Omaha Steak out on the counter to thaw.. It was calling us. It was very good.. it was Warren Buffet good... the only thing missing was candlelight and wine.. I hope we get the left overs for dinner :)

Well not the entire day... but part of it.
First of all, we were diary of the day!! now that was incredibly exciting! We got to meet a whole bunch of new people! that was fun, and they gave us such gorgeous gifts! We got to 'play' with our old friends because you never want to forget them.. but it was definately the high spot! (especially after the seaweed and the beach, days before!)
But then, the day had a turn, an evil turn. Mom and Dad came home in the middle of the day... that is never a good sign. I dashed out of the house between their legs, knowing no good was going to come out of their surprise visit. Note to self : quit coming for ham! Ham is not your friend!
Into the crate we went... the theme song from High Noon was playing in my mind... and then we arrived at our destination! The Vet!
This is like the Destination of Doom! They round up poor defenseless creatures just for the torture and pleasure they get from pain! We could hear puppies in the back room, telling us 'Run! Run for your lives!' "No good can come from your visit here!' and we knew they were right!
At least they let Jazz and I stay together on that cold metal table. We gave them quite the fight getting out of the crate (it's really not so bad in there after all, as today it smelled of ham) And then... Dr Frankenvet came into the room! I remember her! She is resident Evil! Her bouncing blonde hair, and her happy blue eyes.. Sheer evil!
Last time I visited, I left with a shaved leg and a cone on my head! The time before that, Jazz and I were there together and left with a shaved belly and we don't want to think what went on!
And now.. here we are again.. left to her mercy but at least this time, we had mom and dad there to protect us! They wouldn't let the evil blonde lady, with the stories about her kittys at home, hurt us again.
At first, she was nice, called me pretty and scratched me under my chin.. Mom and dad were petting us.. but it was all a conspiracy!! Then she started her poking and prodding! And then.. oh my! and then... she grabbed two of the largest needles you have ever seen! I shouldn't have looked! But you know what they say, curiousity killed the cat and she stuck both needles into my tender skin! And mom and dad let her!
Jazz was watching the whole time. She was getting smaller and bigger at the same time! I didn't know she had so much fur to stand on end, and yet, I didn't know she could fit into such a small area! Then they gave me back to mom, and took her! I wanted her to run! Run like the wind! Save yourself! Forget me! it's too late for me! My days are numbered!
But it was no use.. same poking, same prodding to Jazz, and the same size needles came out, but Jazz screamed out, and growled, letting the lady know that revenge would be sweet.. or it could be, if she was just a tad smaller.. covered in fur ... related to Stuart Little...
Dr Frankenvet said we may not feel very good today... Jazz feels fine, but I think I'll just stay in bed..

It was really nice yesterday, so mom and dad decided to take us to the beach for an adventure. Are they insane??? They must be, because I hated it!
There was this slimey green stuff called seaweed!! It tried to swallow me!! And then there was an entire world of water.... Now I like water in the toilet...but this was another story all together!
I showed mom though... she now has war wounds so that she isn't silly enough to try that a second time!
Since the beach wasn't such a great idea, we drove a bit further and parked across the road from the beach where there was grass and trees and a river... Jazz really liked it there. Me, on the other hand, well I was still traumatized from the earlier part of the trip, so I sat on this picnic table, tail puffed, back hair standing on edge, making my point that this was not the great idea that everyone else seemed to think it was.
Jazz however is not at all loyal!!! She didn't back me up at all, she climbed trees... went down to the river, smelling shells and chasing bugs.. it was really hard for me to play hardball, when your comrade in arms has double crossed you...
So I had to relent. I checked out the river.. I chattered at a few birds.. I made friends with people walking by... it wasn't all that bad.. however, I'll never admit it!
Don't tell anyone it was fun!

Well am I ever glad that yesterday is over! Mom was really cranky!! It was one of them milestone birthdays for her and Jazz woke her up at 4:30 to wish her a happy one... I knew better!
Then it rained so hard that we thought the sky was falling... and when our humans got home after work I was ready at the door to dash outside before they could stop me, but instead of chasing me like they usually do, they left me outside in the rain and cold! I had to run around to the back door to beg to come in! I was totally soaked and outside forever!! They said it was only 2-3 minutes, but I know it was hours and hours! Jazz was so happy to see me when I got in, she's such a baby, she hates it when I'm out of her sight. She tried to get outside too but she's not fast like me!
Today is nice though, we get to go back to Birch Bay and go for walks since the rain stopped. I hate to leave Clem alone, but I'm sure he can find a spider or two in the crawl space to look after him while I'm away. Good babysitters are so hard to find!

Well Clem Kaddilhopper has turned out to be a lot of work!!
I stayed with him all day yesterday. I did come out of the crawl space at lunch just long enough to say 'hi' to mom, (she might have had cheese) but I had to get back to him! I couldn't just leave him alone! You never know what he might get into! And I did go to bed for an hour or so at bed time... but I just couldn't sleep. What if he was lonely?? What if he got into trouble?? What if he ran away?? What if Jazz ate him?? He's not just a pet... He's part of the family...
Warning to all other kitties... before you attempt to love and look out for the stray frog in the crawl space, be prepared for the amount of work it is going to take to care for him!

Sometimes everything just goes your way.
You wake up in the morning, and it's your favourite flavour of canned food...
New litter in the box... and you have fresh prey in the crawl space.
It is tempting to just do it quick.. but there is no fun with that! The frog in the crawl space... Clem as mom calls him.. is a noisy little varmit! When they propped the door to the garage open for Jazz and me, well that was just the icing on the cake for a perfect day.
I have found that the most fun I could have is poking him with my wee paw until he hops. He can jump almost as high as I can! I must admit, that a few times he startled me and we both jumped at the same time.
Jazz wants to kill him! But it's not often that you get a toy that plays back! Her and I got into quite the growling match, when she tried to take it away, but she knows who's boss.. and went to find something else to do.
For the time being, I think I'll keep him. Its kind of fun to have my own pet, one that will play, and not eat my food!
