Those kittens were driving me nuts! Mom and dad took Cassidy away last week and came back without her, so I've gotten more sleep since then than in the past two months put together. They gave here back to her real mom, I hear, and moved her to someplace called "Wisconsin." That little 3-legger trying to get her spurs wrestling with everyone in sight was just annoying, trying to be friendly and all. Dad still doesn't pet me much since she's gone, even though I stand there and nag, nag, nag. No one has any respect for a Queen any more! But I do get petted and scratched and rubbed.

I think I'm a good Queen, and always have been, but three kittens at once were too many for me to manage properly. Use your imagination. Lace curtains, etc. Especially when one of them weighs more than I do now. At least I don't have to put up with Mort any more. My first Mom always liked him better. He has his health problems, but for a boy he's alright, I guess. Never thought I'd say that but oh, those kittens! Guess it's about contrast, eh? Wrestling on your face in the middle of the night!

Now that the pain in the butt Cassidy is gone (I checked when mom and dad came home), Molly is teaching Grace how to wrestle just a couple of hours a day and I can finally get my full compliment of sleep! The three of them together were absolutely insufferable, forcing me to take to the back corner of the bedroom closet to get more than 14 hours of sleep a day. Play, play, play...that's all kids think about these days. I turned 15 last month, and these children have no respect for their elders I tell you!

Aw, the heck with it. The princess and the pretender to the throne are sleeping, so I'm getting a nap while the getting is good. Yawk!

And?

Dear diary,

I know I'm not as pretty and sleek as I used to be, but I'm as quick once as I ever was and don't take any nonsense from all these kittens! When I want to sleep, I'm going to sleep and if you get too close I'll let you know that I'm still the Queen of this house or any other house I live in!

Recently though, there's been a new kitten in the house that the humans call "Molly." She was much smaller than I when she arrived, but now she's gotten much larger and much quicker. I don't like her at all, but she leaves me alone, not like the two munchkin-kittens that have arrived in the interim. They always want to play when I want to sleep, and I don't like kittens. So I guess I like Molly better.

Dad always pets me and scratches me though, and Mom is nice, and I get all the tuna I want (once "Hopalong" gets out of the way). I always get my perch on top of the fat pillow on the couch and enjoy watching baseball with Dad. He's a good dad. We are both National League fans and are teaching the kittens properly to appreciate the Cubs, even though we are on the south side. The Sox are stinky, but they play good.

I turned 15 this month but I don't feel older, just a little slower except when those doggone kittens bother me. I think I'm still sweet, but I get a bit grumpy once in a while. I don't hurt anywhere and still get around as well as I want. I've lost a little weight, and the vet says I'm fine. I still hide in the closet for thunderstorms. Damned lightening!

Think I'm going to take a nap now...zzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm The Queen

Wow, my own diary! reah! I don't know how interesting my diary will be because all I do really is sleep and hiss at goofball (that's Morty). He's such an idiot in my world! Dad always tells me that MOM is the queen and that I'm the princess of the house, but I beg to differ. Goofball knows that I am the queen.

Let's see.... what did I do today.... I slept on the couch. I slept on top of the chair in the front room. I slept under the kitchen table. I slept by mom's gym bag. I ate some dinner and now I'm ready to crash again until mom and dad sit down to eat. I always sit between them because I am the QUEEN. Goofball always sits by mom. I am always polite. I wait for dad to give me a little of whatever he is eating as long as it's not too spicy. My kittybelly can't handle too much spice. Hopefully he will have a little ice cream after dinner. Anything vanilla or cherry is my favorite!

[yawn] Hmmm. I think I will head to the couch now and take my seat before dinner and catch a couple of zzzzzzzzz's. I need my beauty sleep, you know!
