Arrival Story: I went to the local ASPCA to see what pets they had up for adoption and she was here in a cage looking so depressed. I looked around and decided she was one of two cats - so she came home with us (along with her housemate at the time - Sphinx.) She has turned out to be such a sweetheart.
Bio: She is a love. She used to be afraid of a lot of things - vacuums and shoes for example but we were/are still patient with her and she now isn't afraid of much anymore. She still has abandonment issues. She is the current alpha cat (having taken over when Sphinx passed on). She is the adopted mother of Lil' Jag and friends with Luvbug. She has asthma, arthritis, and has been diagnosed in March 2010 with CRF.
Sadly her health started to deteriorate in July of 2012 with her having troubles breathing. At first everyone thought it was her asthma flaring up. Xrays taken showing fluid in one lung. Treatment started with antibiotics and an inhaler. After two rounds of antibiotics and no improvement, a second xray taken. No improvement. 1st vet was stumped still thinking it was a bronchitis type illness. We took her to another vet and they did a whole abdominal xray (the 1st vet didn't think it was needed) and found 2 masses in her abdominal area and one near her heart. A biopsy done the next day to which she never recovered having suffered cardiac arrest. The vet brought her to hoping she could fight it but she couldn't. The kindest thing we could do was to let her go to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her friend Sphinx. The vet didn't charge for anything but the medication for the heart and the final sleep. He took a quick look at the biopsy and it was a malignant cancer that spread to her lungs. She passed in September of 2012.
We miss her dearly but know she is at peace having lived a long life to the age of 19 years 3 months. She's hopefully waiting with Sphinx and she's probably mothering all of the kittens who left life too early.
