indoors and outdoors Arrival Story: My husband works near the port in Staten Island and noticed Dusty (a very young kitten) running with the older cats who live on the dock...He was worried about him because he was so young and didn't seem to have a mother-cat and the other cats were picking on him. He started feeding him and one night called me in a panic because he couldn't find the kitten....1 week later he calls home and says "ok it I bring the kitten home?" Of course I said yes....we already had an older cat Smokey and had just lost a red cat named cass to cancer, and this was another red cat. When he came home - he hid for two days in our basement and then started to come upstairs...we also had two labs, but they were used to our other cats - but this new, young one - wow! They became fast buddies and he was named Dusty, since he was soo dirty when he came home to us. We've had him a year now and Dusty is like another dog - they play and sleep together.
We just lost our older dog Nick in August, but hope to get another dog soon.
In the meantime, we've adopted Tyce - who could be Dusty's twin. So far he's still hiding and he came from an abusive home so we're taking it slow with him.
