Nicknames: Osky, Lil' Boo, Monster, Oscar Mayer, Oscar Mayer Whiner, FLK (Funny Lookin' Kitty)
Birthday: May 7th 2009
Coloration: Orange Tabby
Likes: playing with Fiona, being with Mom, and FOOD
Pet-Peeves: the vet - even the vet comments on how terrified he is there
Favorite Toy: a torn-up brown fuzzy mouse that he carries around and fetches
Favorite Nap Spot: With Fiona on the cat tree
Favorite Food: just about anything
Skills: He trained us to throw toys so he can fetch. He's really good at climbing, too.
Arrival Story: We fostered 6 kittens total during the summer, and Oscar kept coming back because he was so scared during adoption days that few people wanted to take him out of his cage, though he loved and rubbed on those who did. To make a long story short, we finally adopted him and his sister Zoe, who sadly developed FIP and passed away. Oscar was kind of wild and growled at everything when he started being fostered, so he was nicknamed after Oscar the Grouch. He soon lost his fear and became very friendly, but the name stuck, it just seems to fit even though he's far from grouchy now.
Bio: Oscar is very vocal and louder than our 3 adult cats combined. He's super affectionate and very demanding of Mom's attention. These things, and his long lanky body and face, make us think he has some Siamese in him in spite of his coloring. He sure sounds like one, and in many ways reminds us of Daemon, who was black and part Siamese. Oscar and Fiona are BFF, they chase and wrestle each other, and she washes him.
I'm sorry we have been away from Catster, we really missed you all though! Mom's back for just a few days to catch up.
And to tell you we've moved to facebook.com/catnipocalypse - this page is brand new, and you can like it to keep in touch even if your not fb friends with my mom.
I was very sad and bored after my sister Khaki went to the Bridge. I might have started picking on Fiona a little, too. One day mom took me to the vet for my shot and there was a sickly little kitten up for adoption there. He was so malnourished that he had lost an eye and has permanent respiratory damage from an infection. Mom knew right away that with some TLC he'd be the purrfect companion for me and Fiona. She was right, I love my baby brother Chewie! Even though he's a naughty teenager now, we're always cuddling and I wash him every day.
After a while the shots stopped working as well for my stomatitis. Mom took me to an expensive vet to see if removing all my teeth would help. She said no, because I had already been on steroids all my life so I'd probably still need to be on them even without my teeth. I'm glad she did not want to put me through that, it would have been a long and painful recovery. Instead our regular vet stopped the shots and put me on daily steroid pills. It is a lower dose but more consistent so we think that's why they're helping me so much. The good news is I feel great! The bad news (for my humans) is that getting me to eat the pills has made me a gourmet. I now only eat them in blue cheese, or cream cheese. It used to be certain kinds of treats, but now I won't eat those. They have to keep trying new foods on me, or I won't eat my pills. I stopped eating Pill Pockets long ago, MOL! And I can find the tiniest pill in a bowl of tuna so don't even try that!
Since we haven't been on Catster in ages, Khaki posted about all the big stuff going on at our house lately.
I'm still zooming, whining, and using my smacky paw to demand food, attention, and basically get my way whenever I can. Mommy has called me noisy, demanding, bratty, and some other words I'm not allowed to repeat, MOL! On the other paw, she also calls me "Mommy's Baby Boy", I guess that's good.
Mommy hung Christmas toys on our cat tree this year, it was a great surprise! We all played with them and tore them down, but I hogged them somewhat, so I got my picture up there playing with the new toys.
A few months ago I had a really bad time with my stomatitis, and lost some weight. I even stopped eating treats because my mouth hurt too much. The vet put me on a new treatment so now I get an antibiotic shot every other month instead of my usual shot. It's really helping, I'm putting weight back on and eating treats again.
I'm purring excitedly and head-butting all of you, I'm so excited to be back on Catster for a quick update! I miss you all and hope you're having a great summer.
I'm trying furry hard to take over as Head of Household here, but King Robie keeps going on about supreme executive power, birthright, and his not being dead yet. He misunderstands me! I don't want to be King of Cats, I want to be Head of Household, period. That includes the humans.
