indoors Arrival Story: I was born in Dallas, Texas. My humans think I'm an attention-loving, high-maintenance feline. I can be a bit "stuffy" at times and possess a royal attitude, hence my nickname Queen Cally. My previous family either had to get rid of me or have me put down. I was just 7 months old at the time. My new parents were looking for a cat and happened to know the daughter of my previous family. Well, the whole transfer process was very scary for me and I didn't make a very good first impression. I ended up having a "smelly accident" in the back seat of my new parent's car on the way to my new home. My parents still think back to that day and laugh about it. Bio: My name was given to me by my daddy. He's a huge Star Wars fan - one of the characters from the Star Wars books was called "Callista", an ancient Jedi. Mommy liked the name because it means "most beautiful".
I have 8 of 9 lives left - When I was about 2 years old, mommy had turned on the washing machine and it was filling up with soapy water. She had went to get some clothes in the other room, but the machine was making this weird sound. So I jumped up on the machine to see what this noise was coming from, about that time mommy came around the corner. I became scared that she would see me somewhere I wasn't supposed to be, so in the process of jumping down I slipped and fell into the washing machine while it was running. Mommy freaked out, shut off the machine, pulled me out and rushed me to the bathroom. She made sure I was breathing and washed off all the soap that was clinging to my fur. She wrapped me up in a warm towel and stayed with me for several hours. I didn't mean to scare mommy, but I definately don't like washing machines anymore!
I also have a unique feature on my tummy. Like most tabbies that have spots on their tummy, some of my spots form a nose, two eyes and a smile. Even nature loves the smiley! Hey Guys! Mom took me to the vet the other day after she discovered a small marble sized lump on my back left leg where the human's calf muscle would be. The vet did a biopsy of it and found it was a lipoma. The simple version of that is it's a fatty benign tumor, which is common in dogs but somewhat rare in cats. The vet said it's the first time he's encountered this in his practice. The humans agreed, as a precaution they would have the tumor removed so that it doesn't develop into something worse. It's also in a location that would cause mobility issues for me if it continued to grow. So, my surgery is scheduled for this Tuesday, May 12th to have it removed.
purrs & headbonks,
Cally
PS: Mom had to reschedule the surgery from Friday May 8th to Tuesday May 12th.
I'm doing so much better now. I've been on a low dose anti-inflammatory and it's working wonders. Mom keeps telling me to take it easy, don't be jumping off stuff - but I feel great. I've got full range of motion in my tail and I just feel like a brand new kitten! Mom is trying to encourage me to use the little stairs and ottoman, so I don't further injury myself. Thanks for all the purrs and get well wishes.
