Arrival Story:
An hour after I adopted a kitten from a rescue group, I was on my way home. I spotted a small calico under an electric company van. She ran into the road and I slowed down. Then she ran to my car. I couldn't see her so I had to get out to be sure I wouldn't run her over. She came to me and rubbed my legs. The man in the van said she'd been running around for about an hour. We knocked on the door closest to where we were. The resident said he'd fed the cat and now it won't leave and he hadn't gotten around to calling animal control. I couldn't just leave her. I brought her home and called animal control myself. I had her contained in a kitty playpen in the garage for two nights. Animal control called to come, and I got this idea that maybe I'd keep her if she was healthy and didn't belong to anyone. I paid for her to be spayed, got her shots, and called around to local shelters to see if anyone was missing a cat (she did not have a chip). Well, after bringing her in and keeping her in a spare bedroom for a week, I started slow introductions. At first, everything went well with my male cat Andy. Then she met Ava, my beloved siamese. Ava was calm and nice. The second meeting is where everything went wrong. She attacked Ava. She may have sensed that she was ill, or maybe just did it because she's female. I tried Andy again. She charged him but quickly retreated and ran to her safe cat bed. I waited and tried Ava again, this time with Ava in my lap. As soon as Gracie noticed her, she charged her again. It was awful and I felt so bad for Ava. I let her down twice. Gracie was not full grown yet, but was about the size of Ava, so I refused to even try again. My Ava had terminal mammary cancer and I didn't want her to spend her final weeks or months looking over her shoulder. Ava was the Queen and I was not going to let her be humbled. That's when I turned to local rescue groups for help. I've been fostering her ever since.
Bio:
Ava was located in the same neighborhood ravaged by a tornado last fall. After the tornado, the number of strays went thru the roof and I believe she may be a product of that.

Hi everyone! Just wanted you to know that I like my new family! I get to run up and down a hall and I still have a nice window. I have a girl that carries me around, and I sleep on the couch while the kids do their homework. My foster mommy is helping me write this since I'm living a few blocks away. She's going to come visit me and bring me a present. A Starchaser with a light up ball! I can't wait for her to see me in my new castle! I'll make sure she updates everyone with new pictures when she comes to see me soon! Thanks for all of your support! I'm so glad I found a home, and I purray that all other kitties do too! Oh, and my name is still Gracie!!!!

I'm in my new castle and I'm honored that all of you care so much. Mommy cried. Today was bittersweet. I am DOTD and it's also one month exactly since Ava went to the bridge. My new family hasn't called yet to talk to mommy, but she's still thinking of me and hoping that they are loving me. I'll make sure my new family calls soon. I hope all kitties are lucky enough to find a home to live in. They all deserve that chance. Thank you to all of you who sent messages: Muppet, Rani, Sweets, Teddy, and Samoa. Thank you for the rosettes, Rani, Hooch, Family of Kitty Pryde and Indiana, Muppet, and Family of Napoleon and Colorado. Mommy loves you all and so do I!!!!

Well today mommy came in and packed my things. She put me in the little plastic thing and took me to a new place, I was a good girl. I will have a family and a place to explore. I will miss my old room. It was cozy and safe. Mommy cried when she left. She told the lady she'd take me back anytime and told them to take care of me. I hope I am loved here. Say a purr for me!!
