Arrival Story:
Verbena showed up in early spring, clearly having been a nursing mom. She returned to our garden in early July, pregnant, and ready to give birth at any minute. 3 days later, she did just that. However, we have been unable to find the babies. She likes being held like a baby while having her chin scratched. Verbena has mastitis, which I identified early, so we got a jump on the treatment. She takes her meds like a champ and actually tolerates the warm compresses on her belly to ease the discomfort of mastitis.

Mom says I am throwing off an awful lot of heat. I AM acting slightly different, more sleepy. So, Mom will decide tomorrow morning whether I go back in to be seen by the docs.
The surgery site looks good and I ate and drank, so maybe I just did too much too soon.

In the meantime, check out the photos of Jezabell. She has neuro issues (indicated by Horner's Syndrome, the droopy eye) and had to have her front leg and shoulder removed. In addition, she is full grown and only weighs about 4 lbs. NOT good for a chinchilla persian.

Well, I had NO idea that I was going anywhere this morning, but there I was, carted off to Mom's work. She took me to a room where there were other cats, some in carriers, some in traps (WHAT!?!) One big tabby guy was flipping out in the trap! He managed to rip, yes, rip, a good portion of his face off! It started between his left eye and ear and went the length of his face. This poor boy's flesh was hanging past his jawline. I didn't know what to think, but I didn't fuss or carry on. Mom says she is VERY proud of me. Anyway, I got sleepy meds and when I woke up, a nice lady told me she was taking me to my mom, but she wasn't in her office. So, I waited about 10 mins and Mom came in, gave me lots of praise and seemed very happy to see me. We went to her office, but she left me in the carrier because she said I was 'groggy'. I was a very good girl and didn't fuss or anything. I was spayed, got all my shots for 3 years, had my ears cleaned, my nails trimmed and Frontline. All for $20!! Apparently, that's bargain! When it was almost time to leave. Mom comes in with another carrier and a metal trap. She told Dad the trap is for the opposum that lives on our property but M&D don't like it because it could hurt me or the dogs like it did my 'brother' Rosey last year, during the World Series. He had to be in the hospital for a few days because the opposum bit him in several spots, but punctured his abdomen. He came home with a drain in his gut and the docs told Mom he couldnt go outside for at least 2 weeks. He's been in the house ever since! The other carrier has another kitty in it! A persian kitty who is WAY too skinny (4 lbs) full grown, has neuro issues (with Horner's Syndrome) and had to have her leg and shoulder amputated. Mom called her a foster and said she is a 'court case', whatever that means. So, she comes inside, but I haven't yet. Its because I dont know how to behave around other animals yet and I hurt them. But tonight, I showed her I am on the road to right as I sat on the work table outside the kitchen window and only growled and hissed a little bit! I wanna be good, I just need to practice.
So, here I am, spayed and all clear. I just have to make an effort!
