Squirrel & I had a little scrap yesterday. It was our normal play fighting until Squirrel got one of her razor sharp, super curved claws hooked right into the skin of my right front leg. Mom was sitting right there and even heard it!!! Then we tried to split up but she was hooked real good into me. I pulled one way, she went the other and was actually dragging me with her by that claw in my leg. I screamed and she stopped. Mom was hopping Squirrel would get her claw out of me on her own, but nope. Mom came over and we both stayed still, but when Mom tried to pull Squirrel's claw out of me, I cried, Squirrel hissed and tried to run away. Mom said it almost felt like her claw was even stuck into the bone of my leg!!! Mom tried again, same thing, me crying and Squirrel hissing and both of us trying to go in opposite directions. Mom was afraid to get bit and scratched by both of us, but she went in once more and had to be a bit rough about it to get that claw out of me. She held my leg in one hand, grabbed and pinched Squirrel toe, pulled us together like that, and then pulled up real hard on Squirrel's toe and we were separated. We relaxed immediately and Mom was able to pet us both. We even kept playing, but not as roughly. There was no blood but that makes us worry about infection. She couldn't even find the mark in my thick fur. Mom said she could feel her heart thumping in her chest for quite a while after that.
Later, Mom trimmed a few of Squirrel's deadly claws.
It may hurt sometimes, but other than that, my mom thinks you'll be fine. Just watch for a knot to form at the site - then you would have to see a vet. Hope nothing happens and it doesn't bother you at all, poor little Kitcat! Luv, Tink
Purring for your owie to heal! Your mom might want to watch to make sure an abscess doesn't form in that spot.
So far so good. No ill affects. And Mom has trimmed all but one claw on Squirrel's front paws. She will try and get it now.
MOL that must of hurt! I haven't had that happen to me...we hope you will be OK and you owie will heal.
Once Mom got us unhooked, it didn't hurt at all. But, she will keep an eye out for an abscess or knot like Hilda & Tink warned us about.
Kitcat & everyone ... I didn't mean to do that. When Kitcat cried out in pain, I froze so I didn't hurt her worse. Mom was very happy to see that.
Same thing happened a few years ago... We were play fighting on the bed, right on top of Mom. This was early in the morning. I accidentally hooked Kitcat's nose ... right where you put a ring on a bull! My claw went right through that part. She cried out in pain. I froze instead of just ripping my claw out and running away. We allowed Mom to extricate my claw without ripping through her sensitive nose. Mom was very impressed as to how I knew the difference between play fighting and actually hurting my little sister. She is still amazed as to how we both knew to hold still. The other day was a bit scary because we both did have a bit of panic going on, but we still we pretty good considering.
Squirrel, you are a good sister! Kitcat knows that and loves you.
Ouch is right! Glad it ended with a good outcome, and we hope nothing else will come of it...sheesh, you gals do play rough,MOL!
Minko got my ear awhile back, so now I have a bare spot on the back of it...

Purrs 'n bonks,
We really do like each other. But Mom sure worries about our eyes when we play fight. Especially mine because I am not as rough as Squirrel. I guess she has to be because I am bigger than her now.
