Favorite Nap Spot: top of the cat condo, in the tub!
Favorite Food: anything wet, not above nibbling on dog food
Skills: able to jump high and purr like a motor
Arrival Story: I was looking for a new family member and I saw Duffy sitting in a cage for adoption, on loan from the humane society & on the Internet. I had to think about getting him for about 4 hours after seeing him for the second time with the advice of my attorney. I went back the same day and took him to his new home. Duffy has the hairiest ears, as well as the whitest, longest whiskers and eyebrows, I have ever seen. His eyes change from orange to green depending on his mood and lighting at the time.
Bio: Not much is known about my kitten other than he was a stray, 2 years 1 month old, is very active and bold. Duffy has already attempted to bond with the 2 cats and is slightly wary of the dogs. He plays so much with the feather stick that he has unwittingly allowed both huge (at least to him) pooches to sniff him out. Like they pegged his personality upon adoption; must be the center of attention and he is!
Duffy escaped from the house last week while I was sleeping and from the evidence, went to Higgins Street where the traffic is fast. I was horrified to find Duffy at the side of the road deceased. It appeared that he was hit by a car.
Duffy will be missed by all his siblings and family. Although he was with us for a little over a year, he lived a life that most cats would envy. Duffy, I miss you so much already and it is difficult to reconcile this turn of events. I feel so sorry and guilty that I failed you when you really needed me. A lifetime of crying will never ease the loss of you that I am left with. May God now keep you safe forever my sweet golden boy.
Duffy now expounding on my latest adventure in which I luckily scraped by. Recently, I ran out of the house and didn't want to come back. I am also pretty fast and Barbie can't catch me. Temptations treats also do not lure me back to the house. I come and go as I please.
After numerous offers, I chose to stay outside. Barbie went to bed and woke up around 5 AM to hear a cat screaming in the street. I couldn't believe how fast she was! I was hiding under a car and the other cat wouldn't let me leave. When Barbie showed up, the aggressive cat left and I was free to go into the house.
Upon examination, my right eye was bleeding. I had some blood on my nose too. A trip straight away to the emergency vet and I was examined. The good news is that my eye was completely missed and the blood was coming from my upper eyelid. I also have a nasty puncture bite near my ear and assorted scrapes around my ears.
I only growled and batted a bit while being examined and was happy to mark the staff when we were done. I was given 2 injections, one for pain and the other was a long acting antibiotic. I now have to get eye drops 3 times a day and I take it fairly well.
I was so sore the first few days that I had no inclination to go out at all. Now I hear the birds, and see the squirrels and I want to see if anything is changed. But, I am being watched so I don't go out. Barbie tells me that I cannot scare her like that again. (She cried a lot taking me to the vet and while we were there). It wasn't me fighting, I just wanted to make friends and groom the new cat's head. I have to say that I have a new respect for Barbie. If I ever need her (even when I don't think so) she will be there to protect me or at least to show support. It kind of makes me feel warm inside, the way she came to my rescue. Now, back to healing.
On Friday, Barbie took the motor home with Beavis, Biggles and myself to pick Tom up from work. It was my first time in the motor home (while moving) and I basically kept to the bed. The dogs were up front with Barbie.
When we got to Tom's work, we met Wei, Ania, and Jason. No one there had seen Beavis yet either. I lay on the bed but, my curiosity got the best of me. I actually walked out of the motor home and into Tom's arms. Well, the girls cooing over me was great but, being in Tom's arms being petted and commented on by Jason; can I tell you this was a great experience??!! I just love men! Jason said I was as big as his Mr. Cat but, not as heavy as the other cat Duke.
After a while we went driving again, this time to pick up Pebbles. She likes to jump at me and bite but, in the moving vehicle, she sat in Tom's lap so I wasn't bothered at all. We came home and I almost forgot to tell you all that I wore a harness with a bell so everyone would know where I am. i also have my own leash. I have yet to learn to properly go for a walk.
Now that I have been as Barbie says "An angel" in the motor home, I am definitely a candidate to go camping and eventually to the Galaxy Drive In located in Minneapolis to get my free ice cream cone. I think this traveling thing is really da bomb!
We also ordered delivery food and the guy delivering the food was so taken with me that he picked me up and petted me. What a nice turn of events!
