I thought I should start using this site some more and keeping track of things that are happening in my little cat family.

Grey over about a month and a half has been on medication for some trauma to her back. We first noticed it awhile ago, my dad wanted to wait awhile to see if she would get better on her own.

We found her outside on a rainy day just sitting in a puddle water, completely drenched and not moving. The second she spotted me she started crying. I could barely even control myself, luckily it was raining and my dad couldn't tell I was crying. I swooped her up and put her on the deck then ran inside and grabbed a towel. Went back outside and dried her off, wrapped her up, put her in the cage and brought her inside. Prepared one our spare rooms for her and let her out so she could rest. She didn't even get out of the cage all night.

*Side note* Grey is an outdoor cat. She has been for all 12 years of her life, she is practically feral, though she lets me handle her.

I stayed with Grey until about 4 am until I could no longer stay awake. She cried for a good while after I left the room. In the morning we made a vet appointment and waited for the hour to approach.

*Side note* Grey's problem was she was hardly walking. She could crawl and move short distances, maybe a few steps and then would give up and sit back down. She slept most of the days when we were watching her before taking her to the vet. She also refused to get up to come and eat when the others were being fed, so I crawled through the bushes, picked her up and carried her to let her eat.

Grey cried the entire car ride to the vet. And bite me really hard to the point my finger started bleeding. Tough love.

We got into the office right away, we left Grey in the cage for awhile, not sure how she would respond to others. I told the vet about Grey's problem and then they wanted me to remove her from the cage. I put Grey on the floor and she immediately was very angry. Puffing up and walking in aggressive way.

They watched her walk. The vet grabbed some kind of thing and grabbed her toes, which in my opinion looked really painful, yet Grey showed nothing when he yanked on her toes. The vet told us she is so numb that she isn't even feeling anything.

Grey was wrapped in a towel and then muzzled(which I didn't like, I'm soo super protective over my babies) and taken to x-rays. I could hear her crying which made me want to bust out of the room and go to her. I should have asked if I could have gone, even if they told me no. I should have asked.

She was brought back and placed inside the cage. The doctor told us she just had really bad trauma to her back and that she needed pain meds and anti-inflammatory meds.

Grey stayed in the house for about 1 1/2 weeks until she started improving very well and was well enough to cut my palm really bad. She is now back outside with the other cats and enjoying life. She no longer waits for me to come pick her up for meals, and has been walking around.

Though she isn't walking 100%, maybe 80%, its still very good.

*Side Note* I cried so much when I noticed something was wrong with Grey, because she is 12-13 years old and I feared my time with her was running up. But nope she is going to live forever!!!

Stay tuned for Entry #2.
