   Leave a treat for Tigger

November 3rd 1998

Gray and White

Arrival Story:
Given to us by one of the kid's friends.

Tigger was everybody's friend. He and his shih tzu sister Molly were raised together. They were often found curled up together. He even nursed with her when they were both just months old. When they were a little older and Tigger outweighed Molly, he would tackle her, hold her down and lick her face clean. Tigger and Molly's mate Coby were great friends too. Tigger lived with many dogs - golden retrievers and schnauzer's. Everyone he loved. His schnauzer sister Georgie loved to chase him, and in his later years he'd let her "catch" him (more like tolerated her standing over him and sniffing him from one end to the other). His best buddy was Socks, although he was years younger than Socks. They loved to cruise around the yard and defend the property. One time we heard a thundering herd running across the roof. We looked out the back window quickly enough to see 2 teenaged raccoons jump off the roof, into the pool, swim across, then climb out and over the fence. We ran outside to look everywhere for the cats, worried that something had happened to them. But there were Tigger and Socks on the front steps...looking a little disheveled but with a snicker on each of their faces, meowing at us and very hyper. Best we could tell, they scared those rascals away. There was no sign or smell that either had actually wrestled with the raccoons. Together they were invincible. Socks left us last year and Tigger never really got over it. Molly left us less than a month ago, and in many ways we think his heart may have been broken that his 2 best friends were no longer here. Tigger was the neighborhood's favorite cat. Everyone stopped to say hello and give him pets. Every night, he and Socks waited on the front lawn for certain people to walk by and collected their loving. We live on a dead end street, so he would visit everyone on our block, even inviting himself into parties when the door was open. Anyone who saw us and walked on our block always commented on what a sweet cat he was. Tigger loved to get into vehicles, always wanting to travel. One time his dad and grandma took the RV down to the Monterey coast. When they stopped at the RV park and opened the door, there was Tigger!!! They had to go out to pick up a litter box and food for him. He always greeted the dog walker and often tried to stow away in her car! Tigger was definately a lover, not a fighter. Anyone could love on him and he would love you back. Sadly, on June 28, 2009, Tigger passed away due to renal failure. He will be missed by not only his family, but the neighborhood people and pets!

Mr. Tigger, you are still in our hearts and still missed. I can't believe it's another year since you've been gone, since I've been able to hold your big ole self in my arms, hear your purr and scratch behind your ears. I know that you and Socks are hanging together, as you always did. Tell him mama misses him too. Love, and hugs and kisses to both of you special boys.

Happy Birthday dear sweet Tigger! A day which blessed us all. I hope you're having a big birthday party with Socks and all your buddies. And I hope the schnauzers are not giving you a hard time! We miss you buddy. Please welcome your cousin Squeek to the Rainbow Bridge today. She is another loved family member. Her sister Rosie should be waiting for her. You never met, but they are great kitties too, just like you.

love you!
