Favorite Toy: The featherstick! She loves to chase it.
Favorite Nap Spot: Under the guest bedroom bed or in a closet, all tucked away and safe.
Favorite Food: Majik has developed a definite appetite now for canned food. When she first arrived, she preferred dry. Maybe that's all she'd ever had. Now she loves her canned food!
Skills: She talks! When she is worried, she'll 'mutter'. It's sweet!

Arrival Story: Update: Majik's been here a month now. She's a very shy kitty and spent the first few weeks in 'her' wing of the house. Now she's venturing out more and playing with her new brofurs and sisfurs. She's a wonderful cuddler and loves to play featherstick like her brofur Bo. She's a niphead, too! Her catnip cigar is a definite favorite!
6/30/09: This is Majik's Adoption Day!
I went to the vet's today to get the medication I need for Bo and Seven. A lady there had this lovely black kitty, destined for the high-kill shelter! She'd been found wandering in an apartment complex about a month ago. The kind lady had her fixed and got her shots but had been unable to place her. Now she couldn't keep Majik and unless someone at the vet's took her, her fate lay at the shelter. Black cats are not adopted easily, and I knew her time there wouldn't be long.
We'd losts our Angel Darcy only a month ago, and I knew she'd send another kitty to us when the time was right. The moment I saw those gorgeous eyes and that velvety fur, I knew Majik was ours.
She's only been home an hour, so there's not much to share yet. She's a quiet kitty, currently exploring her surroundings cautiously. She won't meet her brofurs and sisfur for some time yet, but I'm sure they'll be sniffing under the door before long. Welcome, Majik, to your furever home!!
Bio: We chose the name Majik for two reasons. We believe so strongly that our Angel Darcy and Angel Dylan sent her to us from the Bridge to help heal the void that their leaving us has left. Angel magic is powerful! We had a very special black cat named Black Magic many years ago. We're naming Majik in her honor as well, but using the ancient spelling. She's bound to be special with three such special angels watching over her!

Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind.
We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties.
Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.

I've been here about three weeks now, Meowmy sez. I think I really, truly have a furever home! Until just the past few days, I stayed in 'my' room most of the time. I'd venture out, but skiddaddle back under the bed when another cat came close or I heard something scary. Meowmy began introducing me slowly to each brofur and sisfur cat, one at a time. They seemed big and ferocious at furst, but now...I thinks they're pretty nice! I's still a little scared of Shamrock, though. I will hiss and hiss at him but he ignores me!!!! Doesn't he know I's fierce?? (Meowmy sez he's 'deaf'. I doesn't know what that is. Could that be why my ferocious hissing doesn't scare him??) So I stay away from Shammy when I can.
Sisfur Seven is SO sweet! She has told me all 'bout Angel-Sisfur Darcy and Angel Brofur Dylan. They's the ones who sended me to my new home!!!! She didn't know Dylan but heard 'bout him from brofur Bo. I wish I'd known them...but I loves them anyway 'cause they found my new family fur me!
Now I'm coming out to play sometimes with Seven. We likes to play chase. Meowmy plays feather stick with us, too. And I likes to curl up with Meowmy on the couch at night when she watches that funny box called a TV. I loves to snuggle!
There's lots to eat here and always somefur around to keep me company. It seems safe, too, not like the apartment parking lot where I wuz found. I gets lots of cuddles and play time. There's plenty of soft, safe places to sleep. Best of all, Meowmy and Purrdaddy sez they loves me!
I thinks this is what having a real furever home is all about!!
Today wuz my furst full day in what I've decided must be my NEW FUREVER HOME! My new Meowmy is keepin' me in the guest side of the house, but I can smell that there's other kitties behind that closed door. I's shy about meetin' them. Meowmy's promised that it won't be too quick 'cause she doesn't want me to be 'fraid of them. I's a very little cat! Meowmy sez I'll be the smallest of all the kitties here.
But it hasn't been too lonesome. This mornin' Meowmy put the 'others' in a place called the 'basement'. She sez it's not a bad place. There's a door leading to a screen porch where they can be 'almost outside', and there's food, water, and cat toys there. Sounds good to me!
Then Meowmy let me into the rest of the house to 'splore. I could sniff the other cats' scents. They smells okay, I guess.
I spent all mornin' peeking around corners, peering under couches, and sneakin' under beds. It wuz fun!
When Meowmy had to go do somethin' called 'work', she let me have the whole upstairs all by my little cat self! I tooked a nap, nibbled some kibble, and looked outside at the big world. There's lots of trees here and birds and grass. Not at all like the 'partments where I wuz before.
Tonight when she got home, Meowmy put me back in the guest side of the house and I heard her calling 'the others' up from that basement-thing. But she's been comin' in to feed me and play with me, so it's not bad.
One day I'll meet my new brofurs and sisfurs. For now, I's just enjoyin' having a real furever home!
What a busy day!!! I'm still amazed at what all has happened to me! Let me 'splain a bit 'bout myself furst.
I wuz a lost, lonely kitty, wandering around an apartment complex until a nice lady founded me. She took me to the vet where I wuz 'fixed', whatever that means, and she gave me a warm place to sleep and plenty of food to eat. But she said she couldn't give me my furever home. She tried and tried to find my furever home, but she just couldn't do it!
Today she said she had to find my new family or I'd have to go to the 'shelter'. It didn't sound like a good place, but she couldn't keep me in her 'partment any longer. No pets allowed!
So she put me in a cardboard box. It was dark and smelled funny. I recognized the smell of the vet's office. I just hoped there wouldn't be needles today!
I heard lots of talking but inside the box, I couldn't see what wuz happening. Then...the box lid opened! Another lady wuz looking down at me. She talked to me in a soft voice and picked me up to cuddle me. I liked her! Then my first almost-mommy went away! I was a little scared but the nice lady said she would be my furever meowmy!!!! Wow!! A furever meowmy at last!!!!
I had to get another shot and some yucky stuff in my ears for something called 'mites', whatever they are. Then Meowmy - MEOWMY!!!! - put me in a real cat crate she always carries in her car. I went HOME!!!!
I'm living now in the guest side of the house. I have three rooms for myself. I knows there are other cats on the other side of the door but I can't meet them yet. Meowmy sez I need to settle in furst. I think that's a good idea! I'm very quiet and shy and maybe it will take me a long time to want to know my new brofurs and new sisfur. Meowmy sez she'll be patient.
My name is Majik now. I like that name 'cause it's magic that I wuz a little stray just a few short weeks ago and now I'm a member of a family. I have a furever home at last!!!!
