Arrival Story: I was at work. A man stopped in to ask directions to the SPCA. I asked him why he was going there. He told me he had a box of kittens he was taking there. I asked if he has any yellow ones. Of course he said," yes, they are all yellow". He brought them in. Inside this tall box where 6 little kittens. He picked one up and said that was a good one. I put my hand in the box and one hissed at me. I scooped it up. I Hope you are a girl. I knew males are the dominant gender in yellow cats. "They are all boys", he told me. I had been looking for a female at every SPCA, in the newspaper but to no avail. But this kitten had what he needed to be with my girls. I had one SPCA rescue named Suzie and she was one wicked cat. Suzie bit everyone in the family, fought with every cat and hated everything she saw. So this kitten had to have spunk. I took him home inside my coat and walked in the back door. All I got was "she's so cute". The fuss was not long lived, as Suzie came around the corner. You could see the steam starting to come out her ears, she was so mad. The kitten got the hiss and growl treatment. The kitten looked at her and ran to her. She Screeeeamed, the kitten loved it. The kitten thought it was game, and would jump on her every time he saw her. They would roll on floor and Suzie would sound like she was killing him. He would roll across the floor like a peach. Thus his name. This game and noise went on every day for months. Suzie and Peaches were friends, very good friends. Scarlet was the mommy figure and she groomed him every day. They slept together on the bed. Scarlet with her paws always around him. Suzie didn't mind this friendship between Scarlet and he.
Suzie passed on when the melamine in the food happened. Peaches spends most of his time alone in the bathroom now. He loves to be brushed when someone is in there. Lately he has been coming out more and drinking water from a cup I placed on the coffee table in the Rec room. He is very shy and screams like Suzie every time you touch his tail. Some of Suzie is still with him. He loves to get scratched on the neck and head. He can purr so very loud when things are just right for him. He is my" Peachie pie."
After several years had passed and Peaches became the supreme man of the house. He was big now. He was gentle. He is the only cat that I ever had who had claws and never scratched anything other then the cat posts and cardboard scratchers. He started retrieving his glitter ball. Suzie had taught him long ago. With a little praise and pats on the head he became a champion retriever. He passed his knowledge on to our Pooh Bear(Siamese) when he was young. At a young age of 13 he developed a sneezing problem a few months after his birthday. Through the months he would visit the vet and received shots and pills and liquids to no avail. In Nov of 2012 he got worse. A campaign was started in mid Dec.to get expensive testing done. Money was given from all over the world thru chipin and fundrazr but it was to late and our sweet boy. He left for the Bridge Jan.11,2013. He had 2 different kinds of cancer and both were very advanced. He was buried with his little glitter ball that he had had for some many years. Now he can play with all his Angel friends and teach them the mastering of retrieving. We will miss him so very much. He is now resting with his two favorite best friends Suzie Q and Scarlet here at the Junction. I bet they are running about and rolling over the fields full of butterfly's without a care in the world. We love you sweet guy. You brought us so much joy and a mountain of laughs. We were so very very blessed to have been chosen to share your time here on earth with us. We will all be together again one day soon. We will be able to laugh and throw your ball without any cares forever. Until then play on my sweet yellow kitty.
