This is Mom here, I have a question and am seeking your opinions. Kallie has always been uber athlete. Making astounding jumps and running till there's no end. This Sept she'll be 9yrs old, and she does have a heart condition,
(she's on pills). Well she's in love with Da Bird and begs to play every day with it. It's obvious she still wants to play. (She's always been a Huge player).
Now here's my quandary> she wants to lay down and have me swing it over and around her rather than the normal chasing and jumping for it. And this is with no other cats in the room.
Is this age? Heart condition? A combination of both? I'm worried about her change here and would appreciate your feed back. She really is my baby.
Thank ya'll for your help. Kallies' Mom, Jeanie
PS> My cat before her lived to be 17 and played up till a month before she died. 8 and a half seems young to be doing what she's doing here.

Keisha does the exact same thing, loves to play with Da Bird, but won't chase it in any way. She wants me to move it back & forth just like you do with Kallie, will jump up & try to get it, but has no interest in chasing it. Also, she will only play on a table, if I set her down on the floor she jumps back up immediately. She's 11, but quite active otherwise, so I don't think it's a health issue. Perhaps they get a little lazy as they get older.
Have you been having really hot weather? Maybe she is feeling the heat and just wants to watch Da Bird rather than chase it and jump after it. As long as she is eating, drinking, and using the litterbox okay, I wouldn't be too concerned.
It may be age. I used to be really crazy when I was younger, but I settled down some more around that age.
Tigger isn't as playful as he used to be....maybe it's just a part of getting older....he still likes his Nip though....
I agree with Samoa - maybe its the heat. I'm not that active in very hot weather but once it breaks I get the zoomies. If Kallie doesn't perk up in cool weather it might be something to ask the v-e-t about.
