Arrival Story:
A friend and I at Michigan Cat Rescue were called about 2 stray/abandoned cats. We rescued Romeo and his friend, Juliette. They were both left behind, abandoned and locked outside their home. Romeo, so the neighbors say, was never allowed inside, while Juliette was an inside cat who was kicked out when the home was abandoned. I am teaching Romeo to trust humans and be an inside cat. He never knew what a toy was, but now enjoys them!Juliette is at another foster home getting medical attention, as she was very ill.

Bio:
Romeo and Juliette are both ready for adoption now at www.micatrescue.com. Roemo is still learning what being an inside only cat is all about, but he's doing very well. He would do best in a home with no children or dogs and he is still cautious of humans, though he does like head scratches. He does warm up to you. He's not a cuddler, but does not hide either. Romeo has been adopted!

A Day in the Life of...

Finally...a home

Since Romeo is a feral he does not trust humans. It has taken me 10 long months to get him to trust me and he does. or the first time on New Year's day he let me pet his belly without taking off or flinching. Although I haven't gotten him on my lap yet, I hope to one day. I resuced him from the streets, therefore I fostered him and ultimately adopted him. Our rescue did not get any suitable inquiries for addoption on him, we actually only got one inquiry in 10 long months and it was not acceptable as they wanted to "gift" him. It is safe to assume that if he adopted out he would shortly be returned or worse, set free on the streets again based on his trust issues and fear issues. It would be hard to get an adopter to understand that he would regress and need lots of time and space to trust a new environment and that he may never be a lap cat or cuddle. Therefore I took the responsibilty that by rescuing him I would need to adopt him myself based on him personality and issues. I am the only one he strusts at this point and he is comfortable in my home with my cats so I decided not to disturb his life any further and give him a loving and safe home. He's had enough stress and deserves a trusitng and stable home.

Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou, Romeo?

Romeo has been "home" for almost 3 months and lived most of his beginning life as a feral/outside cat. He is a very handsome boy...

Momma is "fostering" me whatever THAT means! I just know I'm much safer and warm and get lots of attention, love and FREE FOOD! I don't have to hunt anymore! I also know that I now like to play with TOYS!!! Now I understand what they are. I also love racing around and wrestlingn with my foster brothers. ALthough I don't think Chopper likes me much. Honeybunny has takin' a liking to me and won't pay any attention to Chopper (alhtough street word has it that she never liked him anyways). So Chopper tends to take out his unrequiitted love for HB on me! NOT MY FAULT!

Anyways, momma says she's trying really hard to find me an understanding forever home. See I'm definatsely NOT a lap cat, but I like to be WITH people, just not ON them. I'm still a bit shy because I'm not sure whta is expected of me. I use the litterbox with no problems so momma sayz I just need the right hme cuz black kitties need love too! Momma sez I remind her of her very first kitty, Asti. She loved him alot. She sez he was really special, just like me!
