My Gotcha Day!

Today is my Gotcha Day! I know it may seem funny that I have a Gotcha day so close to that little runt Julius, but in fact we were adopted 2 years apart. Does it seem like my pawrents adopt us kitties around the same time of the year? Well you are right! See there anniversary is June 5th, so they often take vacation time during that week. And usually this vacation is a stay-cation, meaning they don't go away but instead spend time with us and also try to get some projects done around the house.

Anyway, my parents went to the animal shelter because dad wanted a kitty that was "his". He missed his kitty Pepper who used to sit in his lap & they had a special connection. Julius, Pixie & Coco were more mom's cats. So they went in the "male" cat room to find somecat. There were many wonderful choices - a prize winning tuxedo persian who was over 10yrs old. His owner had passed away & he ended up in the shelter, a pair of kitty brothers who looked a lot like Pigeon, and many others. While my pawrents hearts went out to the tuxie kitty, they felt that our house with its 2 dogs & 3 cats, would not be a good fit for him (and the shelter worker agreed) and the pair of brothers were being adopted to a lady the next day (yay - they got to stay together!)

And then there was me. My name back then was Peter. I was almost a year old already, was friendly and playful. I also seemed to get along well with the other kitties in the room. Dad had to think it over so they left without me. The next day Dad came by himself (mom wanted to make sure that she didn't influence his choice) and he picked me! Yay!

That first night I was kept in the bathroom...but I kept meowing and meowing! Pixie was the first kitty to make friends with me. Julius gave me dirty looks for about a week. Now we are ok together, but not really best friends. My best friends are the doggies, especially Lily. I like to wrestle with her - its lots of fun! I also ended up being a momma's boy. I just love mom. Mom has been trying to get me to like dad more. She won't play mousie with me anymore, she gets dad to do it. He is ok, and I like him, but there's just something about mom still. :)
